Rules:
1. You must take between 6 and 8 new photographs per day.
2. Your WITL must be consecutive. No skipping days.
3. You must post your photographs at the end of that day, sometime after the last picture is taken.
4. Each photograph must have the time taken beneath and a title, with no other explanation.
5. You must post these rules at your first entry, then link back to it for the other six days so that people will know wtf you're doing.

Truth behind puppies at pet stores (Video by the Humane Society of the United States). Then again, who really needs to see the parents of the animal anyway? Also - I've had this discussion before, please note the large amount of Amish people at these things (and using microphones!). The Amish are some of the worst offenders when it comes to puppy mills. Oh but that puppy's so cute, I must have it! MY puppy doesn't come from a puppy mill, it's all the other pet stores that do it.
Way to go, RIAA - With PR like this, who needs album advertising?
Senior citizens who happen to be gay get shunted off with the insane because they're offensive - huh. Assholes. Plenty of stories in the NYT article which I cannot direct link to.

The Killers cover Joy Division. At first, I was all, no frikken way. I adore Joy Division and I love the Killers but both? But it's serious win. First runner-up of Win.

I have a large list of recommendations but best fic I've read in weeks - Combat Rock which is Remus/Sirius and just brilliantly painful and poignant and so amazingly visceral. I am in love with this story. Go read.
I'm watching two tv shows right now: Moonlight (which always makes me want to say Moonlighting but then it'd be Bruce Willis and I might have to gouge my eyes out). It's alright, I'm more watching for the pretty.
And, best show ever. It's like Mel Brooks meets friends - Big Bang Theory. It's nerdy and funny and awesome. In the second episode, the one nerd comes out of his bedroom wielding a green lightsaber to protect himself. They play world of warcraft and omg, it's just fucking awesome. I laughed so hard, I had pop coming out my nose and I fell off the couch. Check it out if you're even semi-sort of geeky because it's seriously just AWESOME.

In the past week and a half, I have finished 4 stories and have another 3 to go before I go on vacation (ZOMG TWO WEEKS). smutty_claus, daily_deviant and two lines are all due the beginning of November and I'd rather get them out of the way before vacation and nanowrimo. BTW - if you want to keep up with my nanowrimo writing, you will have to friendtryntje as nothing will be posted publicly.
Right. Back to writing. Anyone wanna distract me? I don't thinkyodels is around with her giant stick of deadlines to smack me.

(Can I use this as beta certification that I edited four essays properly?) In fact, due to my high scores, I tested into the honors program there which, yanno, is a waste as I'm only taking one class there.
Am signed up for my intro to international relations class and will be starting it in a couple of weeks. So, it was a productive day, even if I didn't get any writing done at all.
Speaking of writing - I was tagged for that Five Favourite Fics I've written meme. So, here goes -
WRITER'S MEME: Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of the top five favorite fics you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same. (I don't do well at tagging so no one is tagged)
Moments - (Harry/Draco) It's got a disparate timeline, darkness, an interesting ending and explores various themes. I adore this story though it wasn't well received. I wrote it when I was extremely happy, which makes it a bit boggling that it came out the way it did. I don't think it's the best thing I've ever written but I do love it.
Deprecor - (Harry/Draco) When I started writing this story, it was a complete and total PWP. I never meant it to have any sort of theme or moral or anything at all other than BDSM. I love exploring the lifestyle. Hell, I used to live that lifestyle for awhile. To see it evolve into something unexpected and well-received made me extremely happy. Some authors hate that but I love when stories do that.

hp_springsmut and omg, so much research and pushing of the self on this one. I wrote this for coffee_n_cocoa and I angsted over it like you wouldn't believe. Hello, writing Neville for the most fantastic Neville writer ever? Yeah, stressful. I have such a brilliant support network of friends that listen to my wibbling, slap me upside the head and then make me go with the ideas. So, not only am I proud of this story and think that it holds up even now, it reminds me of my friends and the way they listened to my ideas and my flailing and reassured me/kicked my ass/helped me.
This next one - I'm going to cheat on by doing two separate stories as one. Last August, I had two Deamus prompts. I angsted over both. The first was what became Root So Deep and the second became Wish Long and Long. My justification of these two being combined into one is that the writing experience, timeline and the posting date meld into one. I remember when I saw the list of who had made it into smutmas and I looked at that list and prayed forkaalee. When I got her, I bit my hand to keep from crying and I knew, absolutely knew, the story I wanted to tell. It was completely crystal clear in my head. The same is true of Wish Long and Long. Both stories were there and completely begging to be told. I stayed up long through the night writing both of these stories. I'm truly proud of them for a variety of reasons. The first is that they turned out fantastic and that's not just ego speaking. The second is that they turned out exactly as I envisioned from the beginning. The third is that I wrote them for people I love. The fourth is that network of support I just talked about. My friends organised group chats JUST to cheer me on and reassure me. People that don't read HP or Deamus or slash or even fanfiction, read over them and helped me. I'm getting maudlin but these stories proved to me that fandom is a community.
Finally - This list wouldn't be complete without One Last Fare. This was my first piece of fanfiction in Harry Potter. It doesn't quite hold up to the new writing style and skill level but I'm still inordinately pround of this and I adore it. I was so scared when I linked it to the first community here on LJ. OMG, soooo scared that people would hate it and tell me so. Then people responded to it and were so gracious. I love that this story launched me into this crazy community known as fandom.
So there you have it. My five favourite fics that I've written. They're not all the best in the world but I do love them muchly. I'll admit that I haven't lost that small flutter when I hit post and I wait, anxiously, to see what people are going to think of my latest creation. I don't think that ever goes away, no matter where you are in the food chain of fandom or writing.

I'm holding on to the right to go o.O and say, new one please... This is really to get me thinking fanfiction instead of staring and deleting. I don't want to get stressed writing these, I just want to spark my brain *grins*.

In the meantime, as I finally entered the 20th Century and got a digital camera - I'm going to do that photospam meme that was floating around.
Ask me to take a picture of any aspect of my life that you're interested in/curious about - it can be anything from the house I live in to my favorite pair of shoes. Leave your choice here as a comment, and I will reciprocate by taking the pictures and posting them as an LJ entry. That way you get to know a little bit about my life.
Can anyone recommend a website hosting company that is dirt-cheap and won't randomly delete schtuff? I want a full website so I can put my fics in one central location instead of scattered about my lj and different archives plus host pix for a custom moodtheme I'm making myself.

Instead of asking for prompts, I'm asking you to comment with two icons that have no fandom affiliation and I will write a drabble somehow incorporating both icons. ETA: I stumped god. Well, me as Boba Fett stumped god. I was having a nice discussion with god about disinigrations and watching my father die in front of me when Mace Windu lopped off his head when he stopped responding. I guess he just didn't like that I was happy in my job. The complete conversation is under the cut.

welcome and a few notes
Mar. 10th, 2006 10:17 pmI've noticed that my flist has recently jumped about 10 people and so, to all those new to my journal, welcome! To those familiar with me, err, welcome as well!
You'll find plenty of fic here as well as a ton of recc's. I find quite a few things entertaining so I do commentary on them fairly often. I also work in an animal shelter so be prepared for plenty of animal related stories. I also post about my RL as well as other random goings on.
Since there are so many new people, feel free to drop me a line and tell me about yourself. To aid in this, why not tell me what song I should think of when I think of you? So, comment with a song title and artist that you think sums you up the best. Bonus points if you YSI it to me but that's not necessary. (this idea is shamelessly stolen fromemmagrant01)

So, even those that never comment, let me know what you think I should know about you! I'm friendly, honest, I haven't ripped out an arm in a really long time (if you don't count the jackass in front of me this morning going 35 in a 65 zone).

my day and a meme
Feb. 26th, 2006 12:36 amI'm feeling a bit blah today. Went and saw "Eight Below" with my best friend K. Well, it was not what I was expecting. After all, it's a Disney movie. I wasn't really expecting all the crying that I did during the movie. It hit me especially hard due to recent canine events in my life.
Went over to K's house and had dinner with her and her folks. Dinner was fun and K's dad finally cooked my burger the way I like it (no moo'ing please. Blood is not my thing when it comes to meat). Then, we watched "Domino". It was a confusing clusterfuck of a movie, quite honestly. That being said - I've fallen desperately in love with Edgar Ramirez. Just google him in images and you'll be all drool-i-rific about him as well.

Got home and applied for a character over athp_bb at anael's urging. Not sure if I'm going to get the character or not but it was fun considering how I would play him/her. I already know my "pb" or played by.
I've taken on a couple of "pinch hitter" stories for a fic exchange or two. I also have no inspiration for statler and waldorf forhp_crossovers. Then again, I'm brimming with ideas for a long multi-chaptered h/d story that I've been madly typing at for weeks. I'm over the 20k mark now with no end in sight. I'm not going to start posting it until it's complete, however.
I've decided not to go to Lumos. The reason is simple - I can't afford to go to Lumos AND the San Diego Comic Con. I've been invited to host a lecture-ish type thing at Comic Con so I'm going to that instead. Anyone around that might be going to that? I'm also going to Coachella - anyone going to that? I'd love to meet up and hang out.
