wook77: (shelter-see the light)
Spent today working at the main job as my boss is in Bali and I'm doing her job plus mine for three weeks. A bit stressed, can't think, blahblahblah. I literally pulled my hair out in frustration/stress the other day. I watched hair sprinkle down onto my paperwork and realized it was time to take a break.

Today, I came home, and in a fit of "see? I can do shit well, sometimes!", I vanity-googled (as you do. Come on, you know you do it) and found that, a long time ago, I won Best Kiss at the Charlie Awards for a Charlie/Lavender fic I wrote. More to Life. It's a fic I wrote for Daily Deviant awhile back. I sort of like the idea of Lavender haring off to go be a Dragon Tamer. YMMV, of course.

But that got me to thinking about some of the stories I've written. There are two that I've written that sort of squick me at the same time that I sort of really love them. Both are Star Trek. One is Lead Me Not Into Temptation which features Jim Kirk at 13 having sex. Which, um, ew, but... hot. And the other is If It Please Your Father which features George Kirk/Leonard McCoy/Jim Kirk in an incestuous DP(one hole) fic. The idea of dad/son cocks rubbing together in my body is GROSS but in McCoy's? Please and thank you.

So what about you? What fic have you written that you're especially proud of? What one has you wondering WTF you were thinking? What one pushes your limits and/or comfort zone?

I'm writing three really really long fics but I'd like to work on something shorter. Thus, meme.

Rules:
1. Pick a letter, then pick a word that starts with that letter
2. Supply a character or pairing (fandoms: Reboot Trek, VERY limited HP, Departed, Boondock Saints, Four Brothers, Green Street Hooligans, KOTOR, X-Men Wolverine Logan/Remy) (if you want something in an existing universe, feel free to name it as well) to accompany that word
3. You can duplicate a character or pairing that someone has already suggested, but you cannot duplicate a letter
4. You can be as random as you'd like.
5. I will then drabble (drabble being in the eye of the reader).
6. Profit

Got dropped from a newsletter with no notice whatsoever. No discussion, just looked and there they were advertising for someone to cover my day. I haven't received a response to my email yet. I guess I wasn't active enough in the fandom or something :/.

Submitted my [livejournal.com profile] rs_small_gifts and emailed my [livejournal.com profile] yuletide to beta take 2. I'm pwning the deadlines. Started working with [livejournal.com profile] kethlenda on our project which is, also, pwning. I had this idea brewing just after reading DH, shelved it and then both of us came up with the same idea when chatting. We rule.

I've started working on my January daily_deviant story and though the pairing is sort of cracky and so is the premise, the story, so far, is made of win and not of crack.

Just passed the 38k mark of the monster Deamus-ish story from Hades. You guys will read it, right? Even though it's a rarepair and stuff?

Also just realized that I forgot to post the update on my vacation. That shall get written up tomorrow. Unless I have fic to beta. You know who I'm looking at Icee. And just now realized that I forgot the final resolution reviews. Crap, I really am failing at this whole updating thing, aren't I?

Spent the day shifting boxes of financial records around. There were over 130 boxes and the stacks go up about 10 or so feet. So, lots of time on ladders with heavy boxes. Gee, I have an exciting job, don't I? But, at least, things are now organized so that when purging 1999's records, I can find them all together and then slide 2008 right in there. So, a little work now saves a lot of work later. But, gah, my back and neck ache. And I'm sleepy. And dirty. God, that storage unit is absolutely filthy. There were dead bugs, 7 years worth of dust in places and mouse poop. (and in case you're wondering, yes, I really am the only one in the office capable of moving these boxes. Everyone else I work with in the office has health issues that keeps them from doing it.)

I'm getting the most horrendous cold. My throat is really really sore and I'm sniffly. *whinges*

SLL is getting sacked. This means that right before Christmas, I will have assloads of work to do. It's a good thing I didn't plan on taking a vacation between the holidays. However, I will now be supervising the two other people in the office (obviously I won't be supervising my boss *winks*). So, management experience here I come.

The girl I tutor is amazingly smart. She's just a smart cookie (I make her say that when she uses the word 'stupid' as I HATE that word). Tonight, I walked into her house and without even saying hello, she spelled out the hardest spelling word she had from memory. She is 2 for 2 weeks at getting 100% on her spelling tests. Plus, she got all of her subtraction right. I'm so proud of her! AND - her mum baked me cookies cause her mum thinks I'm a smart cookie *beams*.

I bought stamps for the christmas cards today, so, if you want one - fill out the poll. Go on, I won't stalk you unless you want me to. I will be emailing my address to those that asked for it tomorrow, hopefully. Cards will go out in December so you have some time yet. Don't be shy, please!

How the heck is everyone?

Went to the local community college and took my placement exams. Surprise surprise, I got perfect scores. (Can I use this as beta certification that I edited four essays properly?) In fact, due to my high scores, I tested into the honors program there which, yanno, is a waste as I'm only taking one class there.

Am signed up for my intro to international relations class and will be starting it in a couple of weeks. So, it was a productive day, even if I didn't get any writing done at all.

Speaking of writing - I was tagged for that Five Favourite Fics I've written meme. So, here goes -

WRITER'S MEME: Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of the top five favorite fics you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same. (I don't do well at tagging so no one is tagged)

Moments - (Harry/Draco) It's got a disparate timeline, darkness, an interesting ending and explores various themes. I adore this story though it wasn't well received. I wrote it when I was extremely happy, which makes it a bit boggling that it came out the way it did. I don't think it's the best thing I've ever written but I do love it.

Deprecor - (Harry/Draco) When I started writing this story, it was a complete and total PWP. I never meant it to have any sort of theme or moral or anything at all other than BDSM. I love exploring the lifestyle. Hell, I used to live that lifestyle for awhile. To see it evolve into something unexpected and well-received made me extremely happy. Some authors hate that but I love when stories do that.

Moments in Memory - (Neville/Ginny) I wrote this for [livejournal.com profile] hp_springsmut and omg, so much research and pushing of the self on this one. I wrote this for [livejournal.com profile] coffee_n_cocoa and I angsted over it like you wouldn't believe. Hello, writing Neville for the most fantastic Neville writer ever? Yeah, stressful. I have such a brilliant support network of friends that listen to my wibbling, slap me upside the head and then make me go with the ideas. So, not only am I proud of this story and think that it holds up even now, it reminds me of my friends and the way they listened to my ideas and my flailing and reassured me/kicked my ass/helped me.

This next one - I'm going to cheat on by doing two separate stories as one. Last August, I had two Deamus prompts. I angsted over both. The first was what became Root So Deep and the second became Wish Long and Long. My justification of these two being combined into one is that the writing experience, timeline and the posting date meld into one. I remember when I saw the list of who had made it into smutmas and I looked at that list and prayed for [livejournal.com profile] kaalee. When I got her, I bit my hand to keep from crying and I knew, absolutely knew, the story I wanted to tell. It was completely crystal clear in my head. The same is true of Wish Long and Long. Both stories were there and completely begging to be told. I stayed up long through the night writing both of these stories. I'm truly proud of them for a variety of reasons. The first is that they turned out fantastic and that's not just ego speaking. The second is that they turned out exactly as I envisioned from the beginning. The third is that I wrote them for people I love. The fourth is that network of support I just talked about. My friends organised group chats JUST to cheer me on and reassure me. People that don't read HP or Deamus or slash or even fanfiction, read over them and helped me. I'm getting maudlin but these stories proved to me that fandom is a community.

Finally - This list wouldn't be complete without One Last Fare. This was my first piece of fanfiction in Harry Potter. It doesn't quite hold up to the new writing style and skill level but I'm still inordinately pround of this and I adore it. I was so scared when I linked it to the first community here on LJ. OMG, soooo scared that people would hate it and tell me so. Then people responded to it and were so gracious. I love that this story launched me into this crazy community known as fandom.

So there you have it. My five favourite fics that I've written. They're not all the best in the world but I do love them muchly. I'll admit that I haven't lost that small flutter when I hit post and I wait, anxiously, to see what people are going to think of my latest creation. I don't think that ever goes away, no matter where you are in the food chain of fandom or writing.

Am so stuck on my [livejournal.com profile] springtimegen story right now. SOOOO STUCK. I know what I want to have happen. I know where I want it to end. I know all of this and yet? I cannot write it.

Same thing with [livejournal.com profile] hpslashnotsmut and they're both only due in like two weeks. *fails at deadlines*

I posted some Four Brothers Icons. Concrit welcome :).

How are all of you?
wook77: (Hug - Palpatine)
Honesty meme going around... again. Here's the deal for me - I am not looking and not leaving any comments. If I have something to say to you, I'll say it to your face, not under the guise of an anonymous meme. That being said, you always have the option to say what you think of me to my face as well. I don't need an honesty meme to let things out.

Moving on - I spent all day Saturday in a car. We're talking 14 hours of driving around Tucson and Phoenix looking at model homes. We went to an assload of developments and looked at too many houses for me to think about. If I never see another model home, it'll be too soon. Then, I drove around today and bought myself a new cellphone my old one wouldn't hold a battery charge and would randomly sign itself off the network. It's complicated and has way too many features but it's shiny and new. Then again, I was also supposed to get my new fender installed today and that didn't happen.

[livejournal.com profile] slashcast episode is out and I'm interviewed in it along with the lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] sazzlette and [livejournal.com profile] irrevokable by [livejournal.com profile] charlotteschaos. I hope I don't sound like a twat and I can't listen to it until tomorrow morning when it's done dl'ing.

Speaking of [livejournal.com profile] sazzlette - she has pwned me tonight. She wrote brilliant crossdressing Deamus! The Fashion Police Keep Chasing and it has really hot public sex in a telephone booth. Do I really need to say anything more? Wait, yes I do... go read it and you'll love it too!

New prompt at [livejournal.com profile] hp_quince finally because I'm a twat. It's "men" - go forth and write a fic in 15 minutes about men, I know you can do it!

Speaking of prompts - [livejournal.com profile] hd_falling's Merry Month of May prompts are going up early tomorrow morning (for me. For you, it could be afternoon or tomorrow or whatever). You all are just chomping at the bit to write for it, aren't you?

I have fic tomorrow and then more fic the day after and.... more fic the day after that! SCORE! (what else was I going to do while stuck in the backseat of a car driving around for 14 hours?) Though there are multiple fandoms in there. I've written two somethings for [livejournal.com profile] slash_friday as I think it's an absolutely brilliant prompt this week.
wook77: (stepdancing)
[livejournal.com profile] wendy asked everyone to post a "Five Things We're Thankful For" sort of post to make the day flow better and so, of course, I obey. Go forth and do this yourself to get the karma flowing in a positive way.

1.) My job. As much as I might bitch about it at times, it really is the best place I've ever worked (and hey, I have one so there's a bonus as well). I'm going to be sad to see my boss move on as he's an alright sort of guy for the most part (if a bit anal retentive and overbearing and idiotic at times). Besides, I've never had a boss I can discuss the boy-touching love with.

2.) Diet Coke. Yesterday, I used what I thought was the Diet Coke at the fountain at Circle K and they'd hooked up Diet Pepsi to the dispenser instead. If I'd had some warning, I wouldn't have minded. Today, however, it was correct and that right there makes me happy and more awake. Also - my new Circle K has those "add-in" things so there's something even better than just Diet Coke. It's a Diet Rasberry Vanilla Diet Coke this morning and a Diet Cherry Vanilla Coke tomorrow!

3.) My flist. I wouldn't have nearly as much awesome in my life without them! Between bailing me out on the graphics things, sending me music or random mail, you guys are awesome. Then, add to it that there is all that wonderful fic to distract me from work and it doesn't get much better.

4.) My mum. I had a very surreal moment this morning and my mum had the nicest thing to say about it. She always adds a bit of clarity to any situation.

5.) My dayplanner. I've doublebooked dogsitting gigs in the past so I sucked it up and bought a dayplanner sort of thing and I haven't doublebooked since. SOOOO much less stress. I've come up with a shorthand system to track due dates for fic exchanges and such too so even LESS stress. Add to it that it doesn't gleefully announce Valentine's Day and I'm that much happier.

ETA: 6.) SANI-Seats. OMG, after my trip to the ladies room just now, I'm so very very thankful for sani-seats. Whoever invented these deserves to be sainted as it just stopped me from killing the little old lady that used the loo right before me.

my weekend, slashcast and the surreal experience this morning )

[livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy has kindly entrusted me with [livejournal.com profile] hd_falling and I'm very excited for it! My favourite scenario is the falling in love kind so I'm looking forward to helming that comm and encouraging more of my favourite sort *grins*.

I'm also now the Tuesday Editor at [livejournal.com profile] kotor_holo and so much excitement for that! I love KOTOR so much and am so encouraged to finally rewrite my gargantuan story that needs so much tweaking.
wook77: (Plot Bunnies - Yoda)
*stabbity*

Ok, I feel better.

Instead of pissing and moaning like I want... I've fairly good news. This morning, I was in a pissy mood (shocking, I know) and I didn't want to wear anything in my dressers or closet. So, I went into my "too fat" drawer and pulled out my favourite pair of trousers. The last time I tried to wear them, I was far too fat and that was in May.

Not only did they fit (YAYES) but they have an extra inch of fabric around my waist. I'm down 11 lbs since August. I've taken up swimming and I feel better about myself as I'm back in the pool. I've always felt comfortable in the pool, even if I wasn't the fastest swimmer.

Another 33 lbs and I'll be squeeful. Another 23 lbs and I'll be happy.

On a more fandom related note - I've written both my [livejournal.com profile] slashfest claims and have sent them off to beta. Both Deamus and both very very different from one another. I'm happy with them, though.

I should probably get some work done today as I'm getting paid to do it... unless you all want to distract me please?????.
wook77: (Like my Wookiee)
I've just sent my [livejournal.com profile] merry_smutmas off to beta. I feel very accomplished. It's, IMHO, the best thing I've ever written.

I owe 99.9% of that to [livejournal.com profile] ficlette. I'll take credit for the .1%.

In other fandom news [livejournal.com profile] slashfest is up over 645 requests just waiting to be claimed in about 150 fandoms. Requests end in 4 hours from the posting of this so if you haven't requested and you've meant to, feel free to add to it.

Otherwise, there are some brilliant Harry Potter, RPS, Supernatural and, well, I could go on and on. Go take a look because claiming opens up Friday at Midnight EST (or 9pm my time which makes it really easy to deal with the ZOMG comments of claiming and not be up at all hours). Don't make me beg cause I will and I'm not pretty when I beg please claim something, please, even if that's your idea of a birthday gift, please claim and write something.

[livejournal.com profile] elle113 has saved my soul on this round of [livejournal.com profile] slashfest as I've been tempted to wook!rage a few times.

[livejournal.com profile] inthatcantina is pwning me. There have been some fairly entertaining exchanges but the one between Leia and Darth Vader regarding Alderaan getting blown up killed me.

Speaking of RPGs pwning me, the SO VERY HOT OWLS between Dean and Seamus at [livejournal.com profile] deanandseamus (London Kaaling) have owned my soul. I keep refreshing my flist to find more and more and more all day! Possessive!Dean and argumentative!Seamus and OMG, Seamus moved in with Liam and ZOMG!!!! THE TENSION AND OWLS AND THAT HOWLER!!!!

Ok, I'm done :). UST!!!!

How goes everyone's days/weeks/writing? There hasn't been much fic on my flist lately and I'm wondering about writer's block there. Then again, I'm also expecting LOADS of fic soon... right?
wook77: (monaboyd)
They say you aren't someone in fandom until you're plaigarised.

I'm not sure if I'm someone now or not... since I've recently been accused of plaigarising.... myself. That's right. MYSELF! ARGH, fuckwit.

Moving right along from that frustrating situation... My life is gone. As in... I've had 2 hours of sleep in the past two nights and the reason for this is all [livejournal.com profile] why_me_why_not's fault. She recently rec'd a WIP that was monaboyd. (listen to me dropping terms like I've been using them for forever)

Monaboyd= Dominic Monaghan/Billy Boyd. That's right, peeps, RPS. You may now start mocking me as I have mocked so many others for reading RPS. I've been reading it almost straight except for breaks for things like the toilet, that 2 hours of sleep, writing my hd_365 and driving to and from work. (Notice I didn't mention eating breaks cause I haven't really eaten in two days either) Expect a rec list soon.

How's everyone else? Anyone excited about Lumos? Just think... this time next week, [livejournal.com profile] wildegirl_05 and I will be either watching strippers, getting shitfaced, sitting by a pool or some other such activity. Everyone is welcome to join us, of course.

Still haven't sorted out the sleeping thing yet as [livejournal.com profile] wildegirl_05 has been sucked into her own RPS world. *pokes*

If you want to meet up with me at Lumos, comment here and I'll give you my mobile in a screened comment or you can email me or whatevah. If you want to stalk me, please to be making sure that you're Dominic Monaghan first, otherwise, I already have more than enough stalkers.
wook77: (Boys to the Yard - Palpatine)
[livejournal.com profile] yodels has come up with a brilliant idea and, like [livejournal.com profile] janicechess (who has now deemed this a meme) - I am shamelessly stealing this idea and the text she used.

Instead of asking for prompts, I'm asking you to comment with two icons that have no fandom affiliation and I will write a drabble somehow incorporating both icons. Feel free to either comment twice or link to your chosen icons in a single comment. Whichever works best for you, either way make sure I can see two different icons.

You may or may not get a fandom!story. You may or may not end up with a fandom you aren't aware of. That's just the way it works.

Confused? [livejournal.com profile] yodels to the requests left for her.

I'm leaving this open for today and part of tomorrow since I will be online doing [livejournal.com profile] slashfest so I'll be in front of a computer anyway...
