welcome and a few notes

I've noticed that my flist has recently jumped about 10 people and so, to all those new to my journal, welcome! To those familiar with me, err, welcome as well!

You'll find plenty of fic here as well as a ton of recc's. I find quite a few things entertaining so I do commentary on them fairly often. I also work in an animal shelter so be prepared for plenty of animal related stories. I also post about my RL as well as other random goings on.

Since there are so many new people, feel free to drop me a line and tell me about yourself. To aid in this, why not tell me what song I should think of when I think of you? So, comment with a song title and artist that you think sums you up the best. Bonus points if you YSI it to me but that's not necessary. (this idea is shamelessly stolen from emmagrant01)



A list of things about me.

1.) I love... water chesnuts, H/D, chinese food, italian food, potato chips, H/D, hp_bb, my dogs, my flist, H/D, shoes. (and all that other stuff I have listed in my interests)
2.) I hate... bad drivers, other drivers, traffic, bad pr0n, being sick, my job (at times), posers, dishonesty
3.) I need... money, food, shelter, clothing, shoes, H/D
4.) I want... See my needs in addition to a different job and a college degree.
5.) I dream... World peace or at least the US without wanker President Bush, about humans treating other humans AS humans, a world without authorized and endorsed torture or even torture of any kind, H/D, H/D/Blaise in hp_bb (come on, boys, if you're reading this... make a girl's dream come true, yeah?), about more time in the day so I can keep up with fandom.



Not sure if I said this but I'm now the maintainer for slashfest so, err, you all are going to participate when it starts on May 28th, right? *puppy dog eyes*.

So, even those that never comment, let me know what you think I should know about you! I'm friendly, honest, I haven't ripped out an arm in a really long time (if you don't count the jackass in front of me this morning going 35 in a 65 zone).

Yeah, I know i've commented before but i've never really formally introduced myself.

1.) I love... Peanut Butter/Chocolate Creme OREOS, my cat, H/D, my DJ decks, My STAR WAR model figures, LJ and the flist.
2.) I hate... People who don't vote, bad drivers (snap), apathy, Celebrity for the sake of Celebrity
3.) I need... music, Potterific porn, and the essentials
4.) I want... to be able to write better and quicker, same with my drawing, a job DJing on the weekends and the SW series thats gonna film in Australia to hurry up and get here
5.) Author's notes. In the above body of work it should be taken for granted the the author loves all the bodies of work by all his friends. Of course certain people stand out for their most ambitious contributions to the work of, uh, er, porn. Here in OZ voting is compulsory, except if you've come from another country and havent been mad a citizen. I just drives me nuts how people can bitch and moan about the country they live in when thy do nothing to help shape its government.

As for the SW series, I am so going to Sydney to try and be an extra or something. Must see, must do.

Question. Slashfest? Uh, forgive my ignorance, but what, where, when, how? Am happy to be involved in some way.

slashfest is a give a scenario and then someone writes it multi-fandom type thing.

So, say you want to see a Luke/Wedge lovefest, you'd request that. Then, people from all these fandoms would be all YAY, I'll write it. Then, they have a certain amount of time to write it in.

That's the quick quick version of it. I'll be posting more info as the start time gets closer.

Rufus Wainwright is one of the best singer-songwriters out there. Truly -- He and his best friend did 3 songs for the Brokeback Mountain Soundtrack, but Rufus's best albums are definitely 'Poses' and 'Want One'. I saw him perform Songs from Want at UVA, with an audience of less than 500 and just him onstage with a piano and a guitar. To this day, it is one of the most amazing experiences of my life. (then i met him outside a different concert in DC, and he was so nice).

Iron and Wine I also highly recommend -- it is very soft and melodic Folk music, simply beautiful. When i saw them in DC with Calexico, they were great, so you should definitely check them out. They have a new ep, Woman King, but i would sample a couple from other albums before jumping into that one, because its sort of a new sound, check out the songs 'The Trapeze Swinger' and 'Naked as We Came' great stuff.

anyway...this is a warning not to get me started on music i guess ;)

ooooooooh I wanna play... sorta - 'cause well *thinks* I don't comment enough because I'm a scardy cat and shizz - and I wanna play - is that okay? (Also, I'm really tired, so this could come out weird).

1) I love... winter, chrysanthemums (white; either the singles or the doubles), H/D, music (like OMG so bad), Draco Malfoy, travelling, Reeses Peanut Butter cups, vanilla ice cream, cinnamon, angst, well written comedy and lot's a stuff.
2) I hate... (hate's a strong word, but anywhoo) Rude people, ignorant people, homophobes, bad comedy, sheep (the people kind, not the animals), infidelity, liars, not having the money to do what I want/need to do.
3) I need... a steady income, a cooler climate, H/D, these awesome flats I saw in a catalogue today (er, shoes), forrest green sheets and quilt cover (um, don't ask - well only if ya wanna), less drama in my real life.
4) I want... (see I need's), H/D, to be fluent in at least one other language, an actual 5/6 day a week job in a coffee shop, to go to college or uni, to be happyyyyyyyyyy, shoes- lotsa shoes, jackets- lotsa jackets, people to accept me for who I am and not demand that I be like everyone else.
5) I dream... (literally rarely) that one day (not intentionally trying to rip of Martin Luther King Jr) everyone will get along - blacks, whites, reds, purples the whole kitten and caboodle. That people won't live in fear of the "what if's" and live for the "why not's" (or some similar sentiment). That JK will canonize H/D. That people will take work to be just a four letter word and not a life sentance. That people will stop and smell the roses not just wish that they could. That everyone would just be who they are, no holds barred.

seeeee, I'm long winded (and in a weirdish mood). But *points* OMG H/D/Blaise in the hp_bb house would be soooooooooo hot (that reminds me, I gotta catch up on what I missed while at work).

OH can I leave you a few songs? Because I'm like complicated and stuff (and I'm a total music wh0re). BTW; I could give a million reasons why for these songs but then you'd get bored and stuff. (can't think)

1.) I love... peace and quiet (hey, I'm a Mom of 3), my family, HP/SS, HP/DM, exercise in any way, playing my instruments.
2.) I hate... people that can't drive in the snow, retail associates that can't smile, that there is only 24 hours in a day.
3.) I need...a roof over my head, a family that loves me.
4.) I want... more hours in a day or two of me (wait I have that, I'm an identical twin). Guess I only need the former!
5.) I dream... my kids go to college and get good degrees in a field that interests them, Snarry and Drarry will always be part of fanfiction, my cat will stop walking on my laptop, my 10 year old german shepherd will be one again, my husband will remember I am his wife not his mother!

word and word and word on the I hates! Down here, it's idiots that can't drive in the rain. We had two drops of rain (literally, we had a few drops of rain) today and people had their windshield wipers going like a mofo.

word on the dog thing too. My terrier is 10 and is having horrible knee pain and back pain. I want him to be 10 months old again. He's jet black but he keeps getting white hairs and his beard is all white. It really twists me up inside to think of him getting old.

I keep saying, I have dogs, what do I need children for? I just want my dogs to live for a really really long time, like forever or something, yanno?

I know. Our first ever dog, Galen, died in May last year (at 8 and a bit) and we're still grieving. Fortunately we got a pup (now nearly 1 year old), who is keeping Galen's little-sister-by-one-year occupied and young and bouncing.

I'm sorry I have nothing terribly important to say. Blah. I've been using sparknotes to catch up with my reading for the Odyssey and it's boring me to tears.

Some things about me...(I am bored at the moment):

2.) I hate... bad grammar, ignorant people, racists, sexists, onions, clingy/needy people, persistent people, snobby people (okay I think you get the point...people are are total arses in general).

4.) I want... to get into college...NOW. =O
