Work is eating my brain alive. I've barely been able to pause for a breath. I take about 5 minutes to eat and, even then, I'm normally reading a spreadsheet or Peachtree report. Fry's has also increased my hours for the next two weeks so now I'm at 26 hours a week. Which, yanno, crazy but the money is nice.

In happy-making news, [livejournal.com profile] emiime and her husband visited Tucson and I was able to hang out with them for a few hours on Tuesday night at one of my favorite restaurants ever. They're both AWESOME. I'm totally pimping Tucson to them to get them to move here.

New trailer for Boondock Saints II is out -

What do you guys think? my thoughts )

In body!fail news: I just finished my period 5 days ago. I have it again. Gyno told me "that's normal" for those coming off the medication I've been on. I call bullshit. Time for a new gyno.

In interviewing news: The sheer, overwhelming number of resumes coming in has reached the depressing stage. There are so many people that are looking for jobs and, dude, you can tell that they're just trying to better themselves (to my entry level position, which boggles my brain). I had my first interview and this lady was just as condescending and arrogant in person as she was in her resume. Which was at mindboggling proportions, already. Only reason she was called in is because my coworker and I picked 5 each and she was one of my coworker's 5. We have 15 interviews next week. I had one lady call and cuss me out for not calling her earlier and then start going on about how she deserves that job. FYI - the second you call me "bitch" or "kiddo", the process is over for you. I might be younger than you but I will be your boss so, yanno, you might not want to act like you're so much better than me.
wook77: (Sheldon is C-3PO)
Other than a short 5 hours at Fry's so as not to lose my health insurance, I've had the past 2.5 days off. I've spent them all in my pajamas. I've been reading a lot, which is epic awesome. I'm attempting to work from home today but, alas, the remote login website is not allowing me to log in. I'm stuck with only email access where I'm exchanging emails of this sort:

me to boss: plz pull back EmployeeX's check. The payroll company shouldn't have cut it as it's the reimbursement for the ARRA COBRA payments.
boss to me: are you talking about a payroll check? I distributed all of them this morning?? [yes, double question marks]
me to boss: Yes, she's a [departmentP] employee. Her check is blank but I'd like the paperwork to submit to the payroll company since this was cut in error.
boss to me: But I distributed all these this morning?? [yes, double question marks again]
me to boss: You should still be able to retrieve it from the manager.
boss to me: Oh. Right. I'll do that.
me: a;ldskjfa;ldfja;jf *did not hit send*

But I'm the moron who can't be trusted with anything to the point that she brought in the Director of HR to oversee the next two weeks even though the Director of HR can't even enroll people in the health insurance let alone do anything unrelated to HR. Thanks for that vote of confidence.

In other non-work related issues, I talked it over with EOC and the awesome idea we have will just not fit within the bounds of the STBB. It's all these disconnected scenes and the BB fic should have some sort of cohesion. The fic simply wouldn't work for the fest with the structure of the fest and my own ideas of said structure. It's just that I was putting all these limitations on myself not that there was anything wrong with the fest.

Thankfully, she agreed with me and, thus, that idea is still being written but not for the STBB. This is, hands down, my favorite idea evah. Now to see if I can pull a 20k fic outta my ass in 15 days so I can still have a submission. I think I can do it :D

Speaking of fic - dude. Where is it? I have all this time off to read fic and there isn't any :(:(:(:(:(:( I've been forced to read books and work-related stuff. This makes me a sad wook.

Speaking of sad - Nala, my shih tsu, is ill. Again. I think her tick fever is back which means lots of expensive testing and medications. Thankfully, the meds are sort of cheap through work but the testing is just a bunch of giant hoops to jump through to get it done. But, that's how we'll be spending our time together. At least this means that she can come into work more often. She enjoys coming in to my job and hanging out and snarling at everyone that comes in to the office (she loves my coworkers but everyone else has to work for her affection).
wook77: (departed)
My fucking puss-sack little nephews got me sick. I can't even swallow, my throat is too sore. I'm completely congested, coughing, sneezing and have watery eyes. *shakes impotent fist of rage*

At work, we've started to receive resumes for the open position in my office. One resume, so far, takes the cake. It states: when you hire me, I expect higher pay because I have to work with you dog killers. I'm sorry but wtf? Multiple problems with this. 1.) WHEN?! Way to assume, buddy. 2.) Salary demands already? and 25 bucks an hour? For a part time entry level position? 3.) Dog Killers? Way to insult the reviewing/hiring people.

The sad bit, this looks to be a real resume and a real application. I called their previous employer (been unemployed since 2007, gee, I wonder why) and they said this guy is for real, he's this psycho (not in those words but as close as they could be without risking a lawsuit).

*puts on trash pile*

The first day the resumes were being accepted was yesterday. We received 40 resumes. For a part time position that pays 10/hour. 40. Now I know the economy is in the crapper as the previous two times we opened this job up (at least once a year for the past 5 years), we've gotten maybe 5 resumes each time. And that's when the position was full-time with benefits.

:(

Can someone please remind me how I did 70+ hours a week between two jobs for over a year and a half? Cause I'm dying here. I've gotten spoiled with the 64 hours a week. I'm so knackered and I have no energy for anything. AND I still have 8 hours to go tomorrow.

Kill me now?

wook77: (blow up fandom)
As I continue to scribble away at copious amounts of Star Trek, I thought I'd do that meme that's floating around. Except there's no way I can pick just 10. So I broke it down into het and slash and posted them in no discernable order.

Choose your top 10> 15 pairings from any fandom:

Slash:

1.) Dean/Seamus (HP)
2.) Kirk/McCoy (ST:XIverse)
3.) Connor/Murphy MacManus (Boondock Saints)
4.) Bobby/Jack Mercer (Four Brothers)
5.) Bryce Dignam/Billy Costigan (The Departed)
6.) Pete Dunham/Carl Buckner (Hooligans/Green Street Hooligans)
7.) Tyr Anasazi/Seamus Harper (Andromeda)
8.) Harry/Draco (HP)
9.) Remus/Sirius (HP)
10.) Matt/Mohinder (Heroes)

12.) Logan/Remy (X-Men)

Het:

1.) Spock/Uhura (ST:XIverse)
2.) Colin/Parvati (HP)
3.) Seamus/Lavender (HP)
4.) Neville/Ginny (HP)
5.) Seamus Harper/Andromeda (Andromeda)
6.) George/Mason (Dead Like Me)
7.) Dean/Luna (HP)
8.) Logan/Jean Grey (X-Men)
9.) Iceman/Rogue (X-Men)
10.) Revan/Malak (Star Wars:KOTOR)
11.) Carth/Revan (Star Wars: KOTOR)
12.) Exile/Atton (Star Wars: KOTOR)
13.) Revan/Canderous (Star Wars: KOTOR)
14.) Wedge/Winter (Star Wars)
15.) Han/Leia (Star Wars)

Also - after reviewing the business plan for my main place of employment, I've come to the conclusion that it is as follows:

1.) Get offered retail space for store.
2.) Think about opening store.
3.) ???
4.) Profit!

They had no cost of goods sold or payroll expenses factored into the budget. None. So they're going to sell shit that, um, doesn't cost anything and is sold by elves in the middle of the night? IDEK.
wook77: (shut it)
Daily Happiness Day 6:

Another safety committee meeting, another awesome meeting.

I got a birthday gift to someone EARLY. This while birthday gifts for the past year languish in a box up in my room.

I've discovered Whatever, Martha - where two snarky women watch old clips of Martha Stewart. One of the women is Martha's daughter. It's hilarious. Plus - they call each other "douche". Srsly awesome. Also - seeing Martha's daughter fail at crafts is so so so worth it.

Also - proof that the apocalypse is coming - Arlen Specter of the "fuck Anita Hill, she was asking for it" bullshit is now a Democrat.

The paint shop guy that I visited today to get a quotation on painting my car didn't mock the fact that my chosen color is also the color of my nails on toes and fingers.

I started writing an H/D fic with [livejournal.com profile] neversleeps. It's looking awesome.

ETA: And I forgot! Rumor mill has it that there's going to be a Gambit spinoff movie! EEEEEEEEEEEE
wook77: (ANGRY)

I let my boss have it with both barrels and stun guns set to kill. Yet I don't feel any better. I thought telling your boss you hated her and everything about your job was supposed to be freeing? Instead, I feel as crap as I did before.

wook77: (shelter-see the light)
Got right back into the swing of working assloads of hours as soon as [livejournal.com profile] anathema91 left me :(.

Tonight, though, I scored a few really awesome things at Fry's. See, last weekend's "sidewalk sale" was on books. And dude. I got book 2 of the Bartameaus (omg, cannot spell that) Trilogy, The Opal Deception (Artemis Fowl) and about 10 romance novels with assorted other books that are gifts and, thus, cannot be disclosed at this time... all for 30 bucks. 15 books for 30 bucks. That rules.

Speaking of stuff that rules -

Thanks to whomever voted for me. This made me absolutely ecstatic.

Speaking of stuff that doesn't rule - me. I'm getting my ass handed to me in Lego Star Wars 2. Dude. It's legos. Why am I losing so hardcore?! Stupid princess needing stupid rescuing.

Going back to things that rule. this article about the reshoots for Wolverine rules if just for that awesome flailworthy photo attached. You and I both know that Gambit AND Sabretooth are totes checking out Wolverine's ass. Unfortunately for Sabretooth, he's already lost out to Gambit. It's just too bad for him and awesome for us. "I know who you are, Gambit." *flails*

If someone were to icon that, I think I would explode in a gleeful explosion.

Going to see Underworld 3 tomorrow. My sister and I are going to hang out. We haven't done that in months with just the two of us so it should be nice. Then after that - I get to go into the main job to do some end of year tax stuffs. And to clean up some of the mess left after the people in charge at the main job terminated both of the main managers. Nice planning on their part, too, because they didn't think to make arrangements on how to cover duties until after they terminated the two people. I got a phone call asking me to come up with a plan. WTF, people, WTF?!

And I slip right back into not ruling stuffs but to head back into ruling stuffs one last time - There was a George/Lee fic that ruled. It was written awhile back that featured George going off to, err, southeast Asia or somewhere around there and Charlie tracking him down. Do you guys know what this story is? I've been thinking on it all day and I cannot remember the title or the author and I really want to re-read it. Help?
wook77: (departed)
I'm sitting in [livejournal.com profile] janicechess's house and I should be working. And I am if your definition of working is yelling at my computer as I read emails from my boss. Swear to god, that woman wouldn't remember to breathe without me there to pat her hand and remind her about the concepts of in and out.

I really do not want to go back to work. cut to spare the uninterested as I bitch about the amount of work waiting for me )

Anyway on to non-work related shit - I think there's a karmic rule about fandom and fic searches - only the worst stories ever get searched for (and having seen a couple of my "bad" fic get searched for, I fully embrace and participate in this philosophy). I normally click the link anyway cause I cannot stop myself due to my overactive trainwreck syndrome. I've been pleasantly surprised a few times and this time was one of them as I encountered some stunning Remus/Sirius. The fic search sounded ridiculous and I was totes ready to laugh and spork but, instead, I ended up with biting back tears at the way that the canon between these two was handled.

Being an Historical Record of Events Surrounding the Unfortunate game of Truth-or-Dare Game of February the Twenty-Second And Consequences thereof is the first. It's got a few SPAG errors, a couple moments that made me think "chick with dick" but, honestly? Don't let that fool you into not reading it. It's got quite a good sense of poignancy and beauty there, the way that they fumble around one another and slowly build into an interesting take on the fanon trope of how and why Sirius leaves Grimmauld Place.

I see a Darkness is the second part and just about broke my heart. It doesn't start where Being an Historical... stops. Instead, it's got a disparate timeline that weaves everything together in a broken misshapen lump of a relationship that works even when it doesn't. The author does a great job of getting everything out there, whether positive or negative. You can feel the way that Remus reacts to everything and it is an amazing piece of work.

[livejournal.com profile] geekerypookery is the author and I'm currently trolling her journal looking for more R/S because I love her dynamics of these two so much.

Moving on to the ramble, I love fic searches. I really do. cut for the rest as I ramble and ramble )

In other less rambly stuffs and postings - I'm working through my [livejournal.com profile] hp_yule_balls assignment. It's a tough slog (no offence to the mods or the recipient as it isn't their faults). Mainly it's a tough slog because I'm so wishywashy about whether or not my idea is a good one and if it's a good fit. So I'm being one of those tedious participants who need constant handholding and reassurance.

I'm also working on a story that currently has the summary of "the story where Remus is a street musician and Sirius is a stockbroker and Peter likes Tom Jones while James has his head up his arse and it works just don't ask me how or why or where this came from".

There are also my three non-HP claims at [livejournal.com profile] slashfest. I've about 5k into a Wolverine/Gambit post-X3 story and about 1k in to a PWP with Christian/Ollie at Verbotene Liebe. I have nothing into my Nightrunner claim but a good idea.
wook77: (FAIL BOAT)
In less photo meme news - work is kicking my ass. We're implementing five new large projects by August 1st. I'm spearheading all of them. For the next week and a half - I will be conducting training sessions on a timekeeping software system that I'm only half trained on meself. I had to be at work at 7am this morning and have to be back at 7am tomorrow. The nap, however, totally fucked over my sleep schedule. I'm also rolling out a new office supply inventory system (JIT FTW!), new merchant service ageements, our annual audit and redoing how we handle billing of customers (as we didn't have billable customers a year ago). GAH. Too much to do and not enough time in the day to do it.

Add in that, honestly, I was tired and annoyed at work so when I got a call from a friend, I leapt at the opportunity to go to happy hour with her. Prickly Pear Margaritas (of which, I forgot to take a photo) FTMFW. They were so nummeh. I got my friend trashed, we bashed dating/marriage (she's starting the divorce process due to some wtfery on her "husband"'s part) and it was all good. I poured her into her house with her mum and headed home where I promptly fell asleep in the middle of a chat. Proof positive that I am OTP with someone.

Psuedo-Random observation: Rabid shippers in any fandom really scare the crap out of me. I don't get how a character flaw is proof of twu wuv in one ship while proof positive that there cannot be love in another ship. Dude. That character will act as that character as that character unless something really major happens. IE - Harry is not going to change how he reacts to things whether he is with Hermione, Ginny, Snape or Draco. He is still going to have his chest monster. Isn't that part of why we love him? (and no, this isn't about HP shipping wars)

Also - sort of along that line - I think killing off a character to solve a love triangle is the height of lazy and sloppy writing. That was my complaint in the *Uglies Series by Scott Westerfield* (Highlight to read as it contains spoilers) and that's my complaint if it happens in a tv show. It's like writers think that if a person chooses one love interest over another, they'll show that person to actually be *gasp* human. Or it's cowardice because the writer doesn't want to piss off the rabid shippers of whatever ship it is.

I'm still in love with this icon.
wook77: (mike lange - you'd have to be here to be)
Went to watch a movie on Sunday with my sister and one of her friends. I'll have a proper review of it later (probably tomorrow as I'm so beyond behind on posting my resolution reviews, it isn't funny). I'm still on track for finishing the 50 books/50 movies this year even with working assloads of hours.

Anyway, when we came home, I watched Newsies. This is such my guilty pleasure movie. ramble ramble, Newsies, Christian Bale is hot, jury duty, Fry's whinging )

So, um, I'm sure you've noticed that it's, err, Thursday and no update on Memories as a Teacup. There's a good reason for it. Really, there is. It's just that...well... I, um, I've lost my thumbdrive. The one with the story on it? Yeah, that thumbdrive. I've been looking all over for it and I cannot find it at all. Thankfully, [livejournal.com profile] nefernat has a copy of the beta'd version and will be sending it to me tomorrow. Also, [livejournal.com profile] elanorofcastile has seen the additions thus I have everything. Just not in one organised place. So I'm not SOL but I am late. You may now being hurling salmonella-poisoned tomatoes at me. I suck and I apologise. I'm cleaning my room only to find the damnable thumbdrive.
wook77: (ollian 6)
Fry's messed up my schedule. I'm working 14 days in a row. Of which - 10 of them are 15 hours of WORK, 2 hours commute and an hour for lunch. I do not think I am sleeping much in the next week yet.

Am stuck working on Mother's Day which doesn't make me happy. But - oh well. It's money and considering how much I just spent on Mother's Day - I need it. Especially considering that I went out and bought an iPod with my economic stimulus package check. Finally. It's a bright blue iPod nano. This thing had better not die like those on my flist have. *waggles finger at it* It is made of win, though. I got the iTrip and now I have music in my car again!

I know you all are probably all o.O over the whole Ollian thing (yes, I hear the cries of STFU already) but GOD, they are eating my brain. They're like my favorite fic cliches. They're sort of mates, they're definitely flatmates and they have this slow slide into a relationship and once they get to a certain point, they drop off into the hottest stuffs. Though - there is a marked lack of snogging lately. Also - a marked lack of snuggling. And shirtlessness. And sex.

The fanvid eating my brain:

[livejournal.com profile] hd_worldcup posted the last set of stories so get out there and read and vote! You have a week free of posting to go to town during! Don't forget that you can drabble and/or comment pr0n during the week, too!

I'm always amazed at how free some people are with their personal information online. I linked from a link to a link to a link and I discovered someone's entire real life down to photos and addresses. I just don't get it.

[livejournal.com profile] rs_games has started posting. Go Team Knobby Knees. I mean, Go Team Wrinkly Bits. Err, Go Team Post Hogwarts! School MWPP Old Style, bbs. There are some amazing entries already. Of course, Team Post-Hogwarts have the best ones but you can go for Team MWPP if you must. *winks*

This post of random aimlessness is brought to you by the fact that I'm knackered off my ass and I really just want to go to bed but I must cook mother's day dinner tonight so that we can slip it into the oven tomorrow (homemade lasagna FTW!).

Anyone have any exciting plans? Share?
wook77: (Deamus - Kiss)
I participated in the Kinky Kollaboration Month at Daily Deviant on IJ. Thus, Fic.

I worked with [livejournal.com profile] kethlenda and omg, braintwin. We had similar ideas and the story turned out quite lovely, in my not so humble opinion. Details:

Title: In Which Dean and Seamus Miss Each Other and Check Out Girls
Pairings: Dean/Seamus-ish. Seamus/Lavender-ish. Dean/Luna-ish.
Warnings: Voyeurism, Wanking
Wordcount: ~3200

Go check it out and let the pair of us know what you thought. Please?

Have been playing with stuffs for the [livejournal.com profile] hd_worldcup and created a widget for the google homepage. You can find it here. Let me know if you all find it handy?

Have a bazillion recs to post but can't get the brain to function properly. They're mostly from [livejournal.com profile] smutty_claus and [livejournal.com profile] rs_small_gifts as those are the two fests I'm following because I'm participating in them. I'm quite enjoying the recs from [livejournal.com profile] merry_smutmas that you all are posting, though. They point out the great fics that I might pass on first glance as the pairing might not be my cuppa. So, thanks for widening my horizons and highlighting the brilliant works.

work babbling/ranting ahoy )

I should not be trusted on the internet without [livejournal.com profile] yodels around. I have signed up for [livejournal.com profile] picfor1000 and [livejournal.com profile] hp_springsmut. I got a crazy prompt for [livejournal.com profile] picfor1000 last year that ended up turning out pretty cool. [livejournal.com profile] hp_springsmut shall be interesting as my requests are either Seamus/Someone or Sirius/Someone, basically. Good luck to the mods with matching me and May the Force Be With You. Sorry to be so complicated.

I have tl;dr thoughts on how detailed a prompt you should leave for your author (hint: it isn't 16 words long counting each name in your pairings). But that is for another post.

Someday, I will get to posting the last of my resolution reviews. They've only been done since November 15th.

Am dogsitting at the house from the 50s over Christmas. I am also starting a second job starting Sunday. It's at a grocery store that sort of masquerades as a Target and I will be working in the home department. Err, yayes for folding towels for 6 hours a shift? But, needs (and Terminus) must so 20 hours a week shall do it.

Finally - I have just mailed out the Christmas cards. Didn't get all the drabbles finished so, instead, I'm going to post them here for a 12 days of christmas sort of thing, instead. I hope that's cool with everyone. I'm sorry to be so lame. Life just got chaotic.

Ok, I lied. [livejournal.com profile] slashfest Round VI is coming! BWEE!!! Get your prompting thoughts ready! And, err, if you have outstanding requests? Could you take a look and see if they're really something you still want? I have 410 outstanding requests right now. Also - I suggest you all go take a look if you're looking for inspiration or you have something you're working on. Maybe perhaps hopefully the story/artwork will fit one of the outstanding prompts.
wook77: (true tales from the case files)
Got dropped from a newsletter with no notice whatsoever. No discussion, just looked and there they were advertising for someone to cover my day. I haven't received a response to my email yet. I guess I wasn't active enough in the fandom or something :/.

Submitted my [livejournal.com profile] rs_small_gifts and emailed my [livejournal.com profile] yuletide to beta take 2. I'm pwning the deadlines. Started working with [livejournal.com profile] kethlenda on our project which is, also, pwning. I had this idea brewing just after reading DH, shelved it and then both of us came up with the same idea when chatting. We rule.

I've started working on my January daily_deviant story and though the pairing is sort of cracky and so is the premise, the story, so far, is made of win and not of crack.

Just passed the 38k mark of the monster Deamus-ish story from Hades. You guys will read it, right? Even though it's a rarepair and stuff?

Also just realized that I forgot to post the update on my vacation. That shall get written up tomorrow. Unless I have fic to beta. You know who I'm looking at Icee. And just now realized that I forgot the final resolution reviews. Crap, I really am failing at this whole updating thing, aren't I?

Spent the day shifting boxes of financial records around. There were over 130 boxes and the stacks go up about 10 or so feet. So, lots of time on ladders with heavy boxes. Gee, I have an exciting job, don't I? But, at least, things are now organized so that when purging 1999's records, I can find them all together and then slide 2008 right in there. So, a little work now saves a lot of work later. But, gah, my back and neck ache. And I'm sleepy. And dirty. God, that storage unit is absolutely filthy. There were dead bugs, 7 years worth of dust in places and mouse poop. (and in case you're wondering, yes, I really am the only one in the office capable of moving these boxes. Everyone else I work with in the office has health issues that keeps them from doing it.)

I'm getting the most horrendous cold. My throat is really really sore and I'm sniffly. *whinges*

SLL is getting sacked. This means that right before Christmas, I will have assloads of work to do. It's a good thing I didn't plan on taking a vacation between the holidays. However, I will now be supervising the two other people in the office (obviously I won't be supervising my boss *winks*). So, management experience here I come.

The girl I tutor is amazingly smart. She's just a smart cookie (I make her say that when she uses the word 'stupid' as I HATE that word). Tonight, I walked into her house and without even saying hello, she spelled out the hardest spelling word she had from memory. She is 2 for 2 weeks at getting 100% on her spelling tests. Plus, she got all of her subtraction right. I'm so proud of her! AND - her mum baked me cookies cause her mum thinks I'm a smart cookie *beams*.

I bought stamps for the christmas cards today, so, if you want one - fill out the poll. Go on, I won't stalk you unless you want me to. I will be emailing my address to those that asked for it tomorrow, hopefully. Cards will go out in December so you have some time yet. Don't be shy, please!

How the heck is everyone?
wook77: (true tales from the case files)
Today was the workday from hell.

It started with an email from the payroll company telling me that they were unwilling to do further research and that I should seek legal counsel to sue an employee to get the duplicate paid funds back from said employee. Only catch? Said employee only got the funds once, as I've been saying from the beginning. It was clearly apparent that the fucktard hadn't bothered to look at my email let alone the email attachment showing the employee's bank statement illustrating that they only got the funds once. Fucking fucktarding assholes.

Then, we have our annual audit going on right now. work babble )

Fandom-wise, I'm writing for fun and that is very very nice. I have a huge deamus that will eventually go along with the [livejournal.com profile] 100quills claim I made for Deamus but for now, I'm just tweaking for canon compliance before I start sending to beta and then posting. It's sitting at about 27000 words right now with IDK how many more to go.

[livejournal.com profile] rs_small_gifts is making me feel like the nose-picker in elementary school that's last to get picked for dodgeball. I thought I made relatively open requests but no one's claimed any of them. *le sad* All I want is kissing. That's it. However, I claimed something that is made of win and the only problem with it that I shall have is keeping it small. Plus the mods are made of win and have promised everyone who claims will get something so I still have something to look forward to, regardless of said nose-picker status.

UGH, speaking of nosepicking, brief rant about Tucson drivers ) Sorry about that, now on to the rest of the post...

[livejournal.com profile] thescarletwoman and I have assumed the reins at [livejournal.com profile] rs_prophet and we're looking to revitalize and relaunch it. If you have any current Remus/Sirius writers you think we should watch, leave a list here, please. Also, if you're interested in being an editor, email me? wook77[at]livejournal[dot]com.

Typing my email up there reminded me that my paid account is expiring soon. I'm really sad to be losing my icons and that whole LJ email thing.

Finally, a couple of recs.

Because I'm finally able to put coherent thought into it. At [livejournal.com profile] hpslashnotsmut, I received Observance and it's Dean/Seamus. Brilliant composition and form, unique and lovely. Add in that this mystery author's characterisations are spot-on and I'm in love. It entwines within the Deathly Hallows canon and it's seamless, really. Just little bibs and bobs of canon that I just love so much. It's extremely well done and I can't tell you that enough. There's these little idiosyncratic observances that really make the story completely full and vibrant. It had me from the first sentence, really. I wanted to know more and the author really gave me just enough to fill in the blanks ALMOST to the point of being satiated. I absolutely love a story that does that for me. I'm gobsmacked that it only has 2 comments on it. Surely more people have read it and enjoyed it.

[livejournal.com profile] kaalee wrote a stream-of-consciousness drabble-ish Dean/Seamus for my birthday - Deadly Perfection. We've had these conversations about how I'm a bit of a stream of consciousness author, I like giving insights into their heads and writing exactly what the characters are thinking and [livejournal.com profile] kaalee claims that she can't do that. Personally, I think and have thought, she's full of shit. This right here is my physical proof. It flows really nicely and gives you a fleshed out picture simply by what it implies in between the thoughts.

Go forth and heap the love by telling the creators of these (and more) works that you enjoyed them!

Ugh, tired and cranky and sick. Why did I have to be born female and with ill-working girl bits?

Anyway - went out with a friend last night. You might remember Cobra girl. We finally reconciled and hit a few bars on 4th Avenue. It was alright, she didn't bite anyone so that's an improvement, right?

Watched most of the Live Earth concert that was broadcast and I have to say that the dude that got to hold Lenny Kravitz's ass in Rio was one lucky motherfucker. I want that, dammit!

Am going to go see OotP with [livejournal.com profile] shygryf on Wednesday. Made the decision that as her car isn't running and I have to work on Wednesday, that it'd just be better to go after work. After watching a few videos that [livejournal.com profile] kaalee linked, I have no faith that Seamus will be in it all that much nor will he have an opportunity to join the DA simply due to Devon's interview where he says Seamus disappears at the end. Alfie, however, did say that he was going to check out fictionalley so, um, good luck, Alfie. Hope you don't mind seeing Dean and Seamus hooking up. I know I don't.

[livejournal.com profile] rpg_prophet is coming back with a new look. We'd taken an unplanned hiatus and, thus, have reorganized. If you watch rpgs and/or rp, you can help! Add a suggestion for discussion topics or suggest a game to have an in-depth feature. If you rp - write a letter to Luna asking for advice. She's just like Hints from Heloise, Dear Abby or Ann Landers.

I have a post about spoilers written but it's at work so expect some psuedo-meta on that possibly tomorrow.

How are all of you?

We've had a lot of people (at work, obviously) go on FMLA. So I made a crack to the HR Director that there were only three people in the entire complex not on FMLA - me, her and my new boss.

Why I shouldn't have opened my mouth )

The Black Donnellys ramblings... spoilers probably abound )

Am so stuck on my [livejournal.com profile] springtimegen story right now. SOOOO STUCK. I know what I want to have happen. I know where I want it to end. I know all of this and yet? I cannot write it.

Same thing with [livejournal.com profile] hpslashnotsmut and they're both only due in like two weeks. *fails at deadlines*

I posted some Four Brothers Icons. Concrit welcome :).

I'm dogsitting the anklebiting chihuahuas this week... )

Random update -

We've hired a new boss at work. She seems very nice. Very down to earth and friendly. I'm looking forward to working with her.

I spent all day attempting to get my payroll software to work because of the firewall installed so you can't even google anything. Which meant that the payroll software couldn't communicate with the payroll company to get the checks cut. Frustration central, let me tell you.

Got the rest of my week's worth of work done today because of the lack of internet usage. I have nothing to do the rest of the week. I'm tempted to bring in a couple of movies and watch them. Speaking of movies - I'm 25% of the way through my resolution 100. I have 3 more books to review (all of which scored 9 or above) and another 3 out of the library.

Also - anyone know what the movie title is of the movie where Kevin Bacon plays the pedophile in the woods or something?

Anyone know of any good browsers out there that aren't Firefox or IE? Both of those are banned from the internet so I'd like to get a different one as our IT person is such a fucktard she won't catch on at all. (No, really, the only reason she discovered the Firefox thing is that some asshat mentioned it to his boss who is also the IT person's boss) I had a recommendation for Opera... anyone second that rec?

I've fic coming but most all of you won't be reading it because it's het.

DL'd the pilot episode of The Black Donnellys and still love it, more than is healthy.

In a moment of weakness (financial and mental, is my claim), I agreed to dogsit for those chihuahuas that liked to try to bite me. It'll be 200 bucks for a week and there's a yard so I don't have to worry about diapers. Did I say it's 200 bucks? Cause I'm getting paid 200 bucks. *keeps trying to justify it*

*fails miserably*

I've missed chatting throughout the day with so many of you. However, I've now set up my gmail account to do that pop forwarding thing to my work email so you can email me instead *hopes*.

How are all of you?

I hate the tv show - The Black Donnellys.

Reason? That fucking show has me addicted in less than an hour. GODDAMMIT I HAVEN'T WATCHED TV IN YEARS, YEARS, I SAY!!!!!! And now? I've set the stupid frelling tivo to record it because I am, instantly, addicted. Fucking bastards. I was really proud of my track record and all of that and now? I'm watching tv again. I've even threatened my family with harm if they delete even one show without my permission.*shakes fist*

I'd like to ship Tommy/Jimmy but can't for some reasons that can't be discussed. So, Tommy/Kevin for now even if Kevin's googly eyes make me think of Cookie Monster and his swirling eyeballs of doom. [livejournal.com profile] tommykevin - oh the comms... I shall be having fun with this.

In other news, work is going really well. I'm having a fantastic time covering for my boss and they've hired a lovely woman who's already referred to me as her second in command *grins*.

We have a lady at work that is out because her newborn has a 50/50 chance of surviving and even then, the baby's facing mental retardation and permanent health issues. She's taking this time with no pay. What's amazing is that she doesn't have to worry about it because everyone that could, donated time to her so she doesn't ahve to worry about it. This is why I love my job and the people I work with (yes, even SLL). The outpouring of love and support is just amazing. I know that if something were to happen to me, they'd do the same. The reason? Because everytime that something catastrophic happens to someone, work pulls together and supports them. Just so much love for work right now, you all have no idea. I actually was in tears when I called the coworker that's out because she was in tears at the support too.

Then - the flist comes together to beta a fic that I'm very wibbly about and the response has been really great. This is tempered by no responses on a fic both [livejournal.com profile] notthequiettype and myself worked on but *meh*, we love it and that has to count for something.

It's posted at [livejournal.com profile] slashfest and is in three parts. Totally awesome BDS/SPN Crossover.

Out of the Way, Middle of Nowhere, Bumfuck, Arizona - Beginning Edition, MacManus Edition, Winchester Edition. It's brilliant and I'm really talking about Ash's parts there.

Finally - it's Ash's birthday soooooooo HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I have something for you, it'll be tomorrow or wednesday though. Hey, if I was on time for my own funeral, people would freak out.
