Oh Great Flist - help me, you're my only hope.

The little round button on the very bottom of my iPhone randomly stopped working. Thus, to switch apps, I have to power down the phone and power it back up. Is there a way to fix this or am I fucked?

I have about a day's worth of patience for these sorts of shenanigans so if you have any ideas, please lay them on me as quickly as you can. I'd really rather not pay for a new phone, especially the iPhone 4G with the wonderful touch spot but I will if I have to buy a new phone.

I'm not interested in a Droid so telling me to get a Droid ain't gonna be helpful.

I've tried all that :(

I've restored to factory default and it's still not working. My best guess is that it got bumped and a connection went loose so it looks like maybe I have to take it apart and fix it? IDEK

I'm not sure how large the techno-community of AZ is, but one can usually find a few reputable options on craigslist if you type in iPhone repair. There are LOADS of them in LA, and a few of them in MN, so I'm going to assume that there are a few in AZ, too. The prices, if I recall, aren't too bad. Cheaper than a new phone.

How long have you had it? I'm assuming you've already checked to see it it's under warranty?

If it's one of the first gen iPhones, fixing it might be more expensive than just replacing it with a refurbished version - as I found when I broke mine. It's not a perfect solution, but if you do find you need to replace it, you can probably do it for about $50 if you buy a refurbished phone. Provided you can't just send it in to get fixed for free, that is.
