Ok - promised update about the LOTR Ringers event yesterday...

I found a person in the Tucson area at a Ringers group on Yahoo that just so happens to write Monaboyd so I thought "SCORE". She's a very nice lady and I'm trying to bring her to Livejournal as there is plenty more opportunity for exposure here and her stuff is fairly well done.

We met for breakfast and that was loads of fun. We giggled and laughed about a variety of things on the extended editions, commentaries and interviews. I laughed so hard I snorted a few times. That only made her laugh harder which was really nice. We never did hear back from TOR about a gtg for Tucson Ringers. I'm glad I'm not the only one that didn't hear anything.

When we got to the theater, I was quite glad I'd purchased my ticket beforehand as there was quite a crowd. It was at an old theater that I adore called The Loft. It plays indie movies and hard to get movies. It's edgy and I love it there.

While in line to get seats, we made "line buddies" with a few ladies and a couple of guys as well. They were all quite a bit more knowledgeable than me. I ended up looking like a moron, honestly. I made an arse of myself with not knowing the movies as well as everyone else but everyone was quite kind to a newbie to the fandom.

I did tell my story from my flight to Lumos that I've just now realised I've never posted. Basically, I had an arse on the plane that was a asshat about letting me sit in the window seat and then had the audacity to tell me that I was skipping all the good parts in the Two Towers (I was only watching the hobbit bits). I went off on him in typical wook style and he shut the fuck up. The line buddies all had quite a chuckle over the idiot and we finally got in and got to take our seats.

The Loft is an old theater and it, well, to put it politely, it stinks. Ok, it reeks. You can tell that plenty of things have been spilled in there and that they've hosted Rocky Horror too many times. I "Febrezed" my seat (little purse-sized febreze container) and everyone stared at me in horror. Um, yeah, another I'm an arse mode? I offered the Febreze to one and all but everyone turned me down.

The movies were spectacular and honestly, it was brilliant to sit in the theater with a bunch of committed fans and cheer and boo and absorb the whole thing. There were discussions during the short intermissions and we all talked about what we liked and didn't like about the movies. I even found some other people that thought that Elijah Wood really needs to invest in getting a neck. We also discussed the far-too-many-zooms on Elijah's wonderful eyes and how he looked like he smoked a bit too much pipeweed in certain scenes.

We discussed Hobbit-fancying (pervy and otherwise) and I met a couple Orlijah and Vigorli girls. There weren't any other Monaboyd peeps that we met. We all exchanged info and are hopefully going to get a group scheduled to meet-up every once in awhile so I might be getting a life after all.

Ok, so it's another fandom but it's people IRL... so that counts as a life, right?

And thus concludes the really long discussion of my LOTR time yesterday. I apologise for the overusage of "so" and "ok".

I'm such a dork but I'm alright with that. You just seriously should have seen their faces when I febrezed the seats. They looked like I had killed a kitten or something.
