Bought a new laptop today. I'm still obviously getting used to a new operating system, a larger keyboard and nothing on it.

But lemme tell you, I will never buy another computer from Best Buy Ever Again Ever. The people were rude and condescending (at one point, the computer sales person said to me "well, if you were willing to actually spend any sort of money to get a real laptop, we wouldn't be having this discussion"). Then there was the manager who snarked at me that she couldn't change the actual item to match what they'd advertised as the features and I was being "quite demanding" to think that I would get anything other than what they were handing me (well, when I bought it online, it had different features, you dumb fuckup so why don't you consider that?!). All in all, a very poor customer service experience.

That being said, I do enjoy the looks of it and I think I'll get used to Windows 7. I like the larger screen, even if it isn't as large as advertised on the website.

Anyone know of an easy way to move your stuff from your old laptop onto your new one that doesn't involve purchasing a cable?

I'm especially asking about iTunes because a.) moving all those damned music files and b.) my playlists that not only make listening enjoyable but are also the way that I get music on my iPhone (plus my apps!).

I do feel guilty, though, as the old laptop is sitting next to me and is rather forlorn :(. It was such a good laptop but then the keyboard died :(:(:(:(.

And, finally, continuing the spate of random babble about my new laptop - I've picked a name. My first laptop was the Millenium Falcon. My second (and the one staring at me right now) is The Ebon Hawk. This one is the The Pulsar Skate. Oh Wedge Antilles, you are the love of my life.

I bought a netbook online on black friday. It was for instore pickup and of course, they ran out. I spent 3 days trying to get ahold of customer service and it was only by calling the local store and CRYING- did I finally find out that they were out, would continue to be out and they didn't know when I would get my money back. It took 3 weeks for them to credit my debit card.
I bought my laptop somewhere else(actually glad I went with the laptop, not netbook) and will never deal with them again for anything!

Oh JESUS are you kidding!? What a bunch of computer FAIL! You've just cemented my resolution to not buy another computer from them. I cannot believe they held on to your money that long. So freaking disgusting that they did that, especially as it was your debit!

When I went to their online forum- I discovered that this happened to ALOT of people AND they were also doing stuff like installing software and then telling people that since the software was already installed they would be paying the extra price, etc. Also- the forum said the stores were doing things like holding back the cheap laptops/netbooks(This WAS black friday remember) for employees and employees families- People would show up after checking online and the store didn't have the stuff. BB thinks that because they dominate the industry they can get away with that shit. They will end up like blockbuster.
