My brain is done dead broke. My tl;dr response in summation - not all abuse is physical. Learn it and embrace it.

For those of you that didn't see previous post - my dad had some issues while getting a knee replacement. He's basically fine now. My older sister is with him while he's in hospital in Harrisburg, PA.

I sprung my mum from hospital yesterday. She had the drainage tube removed on Monday and delighted in giving me details of what happened as it came out. Suffice to say that, yes, I did pass out, thanks muchly. I didn't need to hear that it gurgled and stuff came out :/.

Was given five things to talk about by [livejournal.com profile] anathema91 They are -

1. Nose licking
2. At Last... Claimed
3. Thunder
4. "And, um, can you do us a favor and look really grumpy?"
5. Gambit-induced squeegasms

1.) Nose licking. See. Um. Well. It turns out that when I'm really really really really drunk, I lick people. And my aim isn't so good. So I licked someone's nose. Twice. Or maybe it was three times. The other thing that happens when I get trolleyed? I forget things, too. Not that being trolleyed really does that to me as I do that regardless but it's nice to have that excuse. Anyway - yes. I've licked noses and I'm not ashamed of it or the photographic evidence of it.

2.) At Last... Claimed (to be read out loud as "At Last dot dot dot Claimed"). IMHO - this is the best piece of fanfiction ever. I check on this story on a weekly basis to see if there have been any updates to it. It's crack. I swear that the author of this story inserts crack into the story to make it just that addictive. It's amazing. It's got veelas, dumbledore!bashing, ginny!bashing, snupin, mpreg, multiple pregnancies, nursing the almighty malfoy!veela!cock, literal assbabies being birthed right at Draco's face and more! Who could possibly ask for anything else in a piece of fanfiction? Not me!

3.) Thunder is my car.

The poor thing is sorely abused by me.

4.) "And, um, can you do us a favor and look really grumpy?"

This is what I get for doing a favor for someone :P. See, Wyatt Earp looked really really grumpy. And he was sort of hot. But then he turned into Virgil or the other Earp brother and looked even MORE grumpy and he got EVEN HOTTER. So [livejournal.com profile] anathema91 and I wanted our picture with him but we didn't want him to smile so I blushed and stammered out "And, um, can you do us a favor and look really grumpy?" and then I might have given a self-conscious giggle or two. Yes, I turned into a fawning fangirl but, in my defence, he was hot. and it was for [livejournal.com profile] anathema91.

5.) Tonight, I had a ginormous and rather embarrassing Gambit-induced squeegasm. I moaned out in a giant shout that sounded like I was orgasming "OH MY GOD" as I finally caught the tv spots for the upcoming Wolverine movie. Here you watch them and see if you don't have a squeegasm. Specifically, the third one. Gambit tosses cards and blows up shit and then he climbs up a motherfucking building? OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!!!!!!

This movie cannot come soon enough. I think I might have to go by myself the first time so that when I moan and shout, I do not embarrass the person with me because OH MY GOD. Gambit. GAMBIT. a;fkja;sdlfkjas;dlfjk

The last one reminds me of a discussion I was having with some flist members on how I found fandom. Wolverine/Gambit was my first slash pairing. I fell in love with Gambit as a small child when the cartoons were on and I've only grown to love him more through the comics and such. I was never a huge Wolverine fan until I discovered slash with them.

I started in fandoms when I was trying to cheat my way through Knights of the Old Republic. I suspected that my character was Revan and I wanted validation of that. I didn't find the cheats but I did find fanfiction. I devoured as much as I could, wrote some interesting stories and started my first abandoned WIP. From there, after I'd read every single piece of KOTOR fanfiction, I was on ff.net and searched for Gambit. It was love with slash at first read. I read the crappiest wolverine/gambit fic ever but I didn't care because it was opening my horizons so much. Even now, I love it and it's so schmoopy and stuff. After that, I searched for H/D, discovered [livejournal.com profile] emmagrant01 and found LJ and the rest is basically history.

I keep looking at my KOTOR fic and I really really want to finish it but I've been so involved in HP that it's hard to contemplate going back to it. I've lost the thread and the story.

How did you discover fandom?

Yeah... I don't get that, either. Snape perpetuates the abuse that he, arguably, was the victim of.

I'm a bit sensitive about issues of abuse given my history (my dad abused me in multiple forms until I was 14). It's one of the reasons I reacted so strongly to terri_testing's point that Petunia wasn't an abuser (no matter how she clarified later in another post).

I guess I just don't get how people can possibly be so attached to someone/something/some character that they don't see the faults of said object of their devotion. I love Seamus Finnigan but that doesn't mean that I don't see that he's a judgmental douchebag that trusts his mum way too easily. I like Snape but I see him for what he is and that's a bitter old man that holds a grudge for WAY too long.

I agree with you - the Occlumency lessons were definitely more like mind-rape than anything else in the books. But obviously it's all Harry Potter and Dumbledore's fault cause Dumbledore totes made him do those lessons and, also, Dumbledore sneezed. *winks*

Yeah, I'm a bit sensitive about abuse myself, for similar reasons. Same with teachers who use their power to attack people they have problems with.

On a certain level, I can understand Snape's hatred of Harry: "If that brat had never been born she'd still be alive." I think he targeted Neville because he wished Voldemort had gone after him instead.

I'm not excusing either--only an utter douchebag would take out his issues on eleven-year-old kids.

Snape refused to take responsibility for his choices and it ended up biting him in the ass. And yet he kept making those bad choices.

Dumbledore, meanwhile, learned from the results of his bad choices. Same with Harry.

But they say Snape's the only one who does any changing. Yes, because everyone except him is really just pretending to be good--the real people are the ones we see when they're at their worst. Save for Snapeypoo, of course.

*sigh*

Same with the teachers here, too.

I understand the targeting, I get the reasoning but oh man - srsly. "You" do not get to say it's not abuse because Petunia/Snape/Vernon/Dudley/Voldie were all misunderstood speshul snowflakes just waiting for their chance to sparkle in the sun until that Ebil Dumbledore came by and melted them.

I do love the idea of Dumbledore, the supercomputer from the Matrix that he is, playing everyone like puppets on strings. I would totally and completely read that crossover.

The only thing that would have made this essay (or the follow-up post) even better would've been some Molly!bashing and a comparison as to how Molly is a worse mother than Petunia.

I never said I agreed with the people who said it wasn't abuse.

And I'm surprised it didn't get into Molly-bashing, but hey, it's still early.

Oh I know. That's why I put the "you" in quotations. "You" meaning them, marionros and the rest. Communication failure on my part and I apologize, profusely.

It definitely is still early. I'll eagerly await that defence of Petunia ;).

Also - I saw that you're in Gilbert! How awesome to meet fellow Arizonan people! I keep wondering if I'm the only one but then I get proven wrong :D! *happy dance*
