Done done doneeeeeyyyy mcdonerson! I've finished my [livejournal.com profile] rs_games story and have sent it off to beta. GAH! WHAT A RELIEF!

Now I just need to fix it so that my team and betas don't hate it but... that's easy enough.

While trying to kickstart the idea, I asked for prompts from some friends. I drabbled and then one drabble exploded into the story that I have. I will post the little ficlets later but for now, celebration that one obligation down, one more to go! [livejournal.com profile] daily_deviant - I'm looking at you.

As I'm curious - "you know a story was written by wook when" meme... so what are some of my "gives"? What do I do while writing that makes you think a story is by me?

IMHO -

1.) Overusage of the word 'and'.
2.) 's at the end of the names with 's's in it. IE - Seamus's and Sirius's.
3.) Detailed kissing.

What else?

1. The use of Gaelic words when writing Dean/Seamus ;) (I love this but you're one of the only writers I know that does it.

2. The lyricism of your writing. It's like flowing along in a gentle river, I can't think of what specifically that you do mechanically gives me that visceral feeling, but I almost always get it with a story you've written. ;)

oooh - I'd forgotten the use of Irish. Yes, definitely one of my gives. I love languages so I just have to use them where it's almost to be expected. I should probably add in the whole "Catholic" thing too - Seamus normally makes some allusion to being Catholic or being around Catholics.

Your number 2 has tears in my eyes. That's exactly what I go for, even in the most gutwrenching of stories - I want it to flow like a river, at times with rapids and waves but then back to the regular flow. And I'm not at all certain what I do mechanically that's different from others to do that, either. I was looking at the wikipedia article on Pennsylvania Dutch English (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennsylvania_Dutch_English) and I think that's part of it. The way that the Pennsylvania Dutch speak is very lyrical - much more so than traditional German (to my ear, at least). It carries over to English and I know that I'm guilty of quite a few of the grammatical "sins" that the wiki lists. So maybe that's part of it. Add in that I grew up speaking French and English interchangeably and maybe that helps, too. IDK. /verbose thoughts on language

You know what's funny? I never do this meme because while I may really enjoy someone's writing, I'm not good at identifying them by their writing.

I will say though that I read something you wrote somewhere where it was anonymous, and I *knew* it was you. I think that's only like the second time I've ever done that. ;)

I don't know if it's a mechanical difference or simply the way you string words together or what precisely, but there's nearly always a *feeling* to your writing that I recognize, to the words I mean. The genre doesn't seem to matter too much. :D

You know (you *have* to know) that I adore your writing and I'm always happy to make writer's happy.

I don't write much, but I know how important getting honest feedback can be (which reminds me I owe you and some others some comment responses. ;)).

~hugs~

That's quite an honor to be so recognizeable, then :D. I'm so happy right now :D = biggest dumbest goofiest grin evah.

I'm so happy that you adore teh writing because, soemtimes? It's very easy to get down on yourself when you don't get the comments you were expecting. I'm really impressed with how many new people are reading the Memories as a Teacup, though. I'd thought MAYBE like 5 people on my flist would read it. I'm getting comments from new people and I'm very very happy indeed :D.

Speaking of which, you should link me to the story that you are most proud of so I can scamper off and read it!

I'm glad you're getting a good response because it's an awesome story and you definitely deserve it! :D

You are quite recognizable to me, but only in the good, hot chocolate, cozy blanket, comforting ways. ;)

Fic I'm most proud of? I've only posted three HP stories. They're all here. I'm a far, far better beta than writer and it shows ;). I think that The Immortal Game is probably the piece most people like best.

(There's no pressure to read it though! ;))

*runs around and flails* I am done too but now it is some major betaing. My read over fixes my big errors beta told me I was "verbose" in some of my parts. OUCH! Now I have to go fix that because damn them they are right.

3.) Detailed kissing
*drools* yes so lovely, yes.

Verbose is a sin I am guilty of. Thankfully, my betas kick my ass and tell me so.

YES! Detailed kissing is the absolute best. [livejournal.com profile] kaalee has this kissing video that just does it for me - it's just two men kissing and god is it fucking hot. I don't need anything else in a story - just give me kissing and I'm more than happy :D
