wook77: (departed - fuck yourself)
I'm not going to see Avatar: The Last Airbender just due to its casting racefail. I'd made the decision a long time ago, we're talking before Azkatraz and I'm sticking to it. I won't be buying a ticket for another movie and sneaking in and I won't be seeing it illegally. I'm going to ignore that it exists because the fail is so fucking strong. That's not to mean I will ignore the fail. I won't. But I refuse to waste hours of my life on such a fail-filled movie.

That being said, I'm sort of enjoying the reviews. Not only is it filled with fail in the casting but it turns out that those colorblind-cast actors (yanno, the absolute best for the job without regards to the heritage) are absolutely dismal.

Shyamalan lets his unimpressive special effects do the work for him while coaxing performances from his young cast that make Jake Lloyd’s performance in The Phantom Menace look studied.

LOL

Best for the job wutwat? Oh, I'm certain you couldn't have found a better actor or actress anywhere.

Then there's the supposed horrific 3D, the supposed awful special effects and the lambasted exposition filled voiceovers. All in all, nope. Not wasting my time. I'd rather watch any other movie, even the A-Team. My free-time is in short supply and I really do not need to waste my time on this. Now I don't even need to feel like I'm missing a thing. As of now, the reviews are at 4% positive on Rotten Tomatoes (which is mostly down right now, as well).

And now? To sleep for a bit before leaving to head back to Tucson. My visit to the Midwest is over and I'm tres sad about it. Plane rides and then shuttles and then home to my dogs. And heat. Lots of lovely, lovely heat.

Couldn't post last night due to lack of strike :D.

It was really nice that a bunch of a customers came in last night and asked about me. A few of them were ones that really surprised me including a couple of customers that had been hardasses to deal with. There's this lady that comes in with her Yorkies (yeah, I don't get how that works in a grocery store, either) and she only deals with me for anything whether it's general merchandise (my area) or grocery (definitely not my area). She'd tried to buy a sofa and got fucked over by a few people and I helped her out. So, now, I'm it. She always tries to tip me but I ask her to donated it to my main job instead. So far, that's gotten my main job about 50 bucks which isn't that bad at 5 bucks here and 5 bucks there!

It was really really nice that these people were worried about me. Makes me feel like maybe the job isn't just lifting shit and cleaning up after assholes who can't be bothered to put shit back on the shelf where they got it.

Today was spent doing displays. Oh Crayola, how I hate you, sometimes, with your tempting colors and new products and fun glow-y dome thingies. You are ever so tempting and shiny.

I'm scrambling like mad to write my [livejournal.com profile] happy_trekmas fic. I've started multiple versions but this latest one seems to be the one that I'm going with.

I've had a low-grade headache for days. It flared today so I think it's mostly weather-related as we went from the high 80s/mid-90s to like, 65 on Saturday and maybe 68 on Sunday. It's also sort of stress-related, as well, like my body didn't know how tense it was until *BAM* reason for tension went away.

I got to skip600 and have about a hundred tabs open so if you get random comments on older posts, that would be why.

Dear Author reviewed Latter Days and it reminded me that I need to buy it. Instead of buying it (gotta wait for pay day as my movie money is being taken up by a little known movie known as "star trek", you prolly haven't heard of it), I streamed it tonight. I still love it.

What LGBT movies do you love? I'd recommend the following: Shelter, Brokeback Mountain, Yossi & Jagger, and Latter Days. Gimme more movies (not tv. I watch most of it on youtube) that you would recommend to me. Happy endings preferred. I can only take so many gay men dying before I get bitter about the kill-or-cure.

ramblings

A few weeks ago, I went to see The Departed and thought it was absolutely brilliant to the most brilliant degree. The pacing, the actors, the accents, the characterisations, all of it, just absolutely amazing and breathtakingly violent.

I also fell in love with the soundtrack but was unable to afford it at the time.

ramblings about work and how I can now afford the cd... )
I was asked for an update on the working out, as well. I took 3 weeks off due to RL getting shitty. I'm now up to 10 lbs lost in 3 months. BUT, I didn't gain anything back during those three weeks so that should count for something *grins*. You all won't recognise me at Prophecy!
wook77: (Hello!Wolvie)
Broke a tooth on Saturday night... how? That's a great question. I have no idea. I was eating some cheese, crackers and grapes. Next thing I know, I slice my tongue on the sharp edge of a broken tooth. According to my dental tech sister, I'm going to need a crown. Blech. Not a happy camper.

This morning, I woke up and my thumb drive (the drive I keep ALL my WIPs) was in four pieces. Anyone know if there's a way to get information off of the chip inside the thumbdrive as the USB port thingie is no longer attached?

Also - went to see X3 -

spoilerific review )

So, I totally plan on claiming an X-Men request at [livejournal.com profile] slashfest. I'm super excited for it. We have some brilliant requests including some h/d, deamus, remus/sirius, death eaters and more.

If you haven't put in your requests, I urge you to do so as requesting will be closed down either late tonight or tomorrow morning. Any fandom/ Any slash pairing. You get three requests so keep that in mind. We also haven't received all that many Star Wars requests so, Star Wars fans on my flist - consider yourself *poked*.

Requesting things does not mean that you have to fulfill someone else's requests. So, request away!

And now - even though I told my family that I would be on the internet all weekend due to [livejournal.com profile] slashfest, I now have to go downstairs and totter about on a ladder to re-paint the kitchen because my mother doesn't like the color that I've hated since we bought it. I told her that she'd hate it but no, I'm an idiot that doesn't know what she's talking about. So, now I get to re-paint what we just painted a bit ago (and keep in mind that we have 20 foot walls in the kitchen).

Some pimping and random thoughts -

Pimpage first -

1.) [livejournal.com profile] emeraldpen has started a novel-length H/D. It's called Spoils of War. Just, guh. It's a bondslave!draco story but it's unique from any of the ones I've read so far. I'm really really enjoying this story so go check it out and let her know how much you love it!

2.) [livejournal.com profile] 30_memoirs - started by [livejournal.com profile] imadra_blue. It has a fantastic concept - people sign up to write a personal memoir based on 30 prompts. It's amazing and just YEAH! I've signed up for it as sometimes I get too absorbed in fandom and not absorbed enough in my own writing. I think this will help me concentrate on non-fandom writings.

3.) The [livejournal.com profile] darkones bad beginnings challenge voting has started. There's some amazing dark stories there. (I wrote Expectations about Barty Crouch (you know, the story none of you read *winks*). Go vote HERE!

4.) [livejournal.com profile] 1character - I signed up for Carth Onasi. Should be interesting. I'm still fairly pissed at the KFM crap though, so we'll see.

Finally - I went to Target yesterday to get new bottoms as I only had three that fit anymore (a pair of jeans, gray dress slacks and a long green skirt). I'm fat and just eugh. Time for a diet. I think I need to cut down on the gobstoppers... a box a day is probably not good for the teeth or anything.
