First, now that my flailing has stopped to the point of just a minor squee that won't shatter eardrums...
Chapter VI - Late Nights by the Fire. This amazingly brilliantly awesomely breathtakingly GORGEOUS piece of artwork is for me. ME!!!!! IT'S ALL MINE!!!!!! OMG *flails* I don't know who drew it and I can't wait to find out. This person hit almost every single one of my kinks (cause, err, how does one draw someone speaking Irish? yeah, not going to happen *grins*). There are amazing hands, a slow progression of a tighter grip that conveys so much. There are intense looks and kissing. There is just the teeniest bit of skin showing and omg, the details on this are lovely and amazing.
I have never received art in an exchange before and this right here? It makes me drool.
fiona_fawkes teased me that she was going to post my gift while I was stuck at work unable to look at it and I didn't believe her but then I thought... she'd KNOW that I didn't believe her and she'd do it just to make a point. I snuck out all sneakehsneakeh at work and popped on and OMG SHE DID!!!! Dude, this artwork is amazing.
Speaking of amazing Deamus - loads of stuff was done for the Kaalee Appreciation Day and
kaalee has compiled a post with all of it here. Every piece is lovely and you all should go take a gander at the deamus and the Neville and the Harry/Ron!
slashfest is having its claiming round and there were over 650 prompts in over 150 fandoms so trust me when I say we have something for everyone. LOADS of fantabulous prompts are still available. There are bunches of h/d prompts and some Deamus and Snaco and Snupin (Yes, I'm looking at you *grins*) and Snack and Puppy fic and incest and that's just the HP prompts. We have loads of anime fandoms, TV fandoms and movie fandoms. Large fandoms, small fandoms, everyone needs loving :). There's requests for schmoop, mpreg, fluff, angst, hard!kink, hate!sex, bondage and basically anything you can think of, we have it. Go take a look at the prompts and see if any of them inspire you.
This round is odd because we've had more requests than last round when we allowed 2 more requests per person. Claiming is way down but I'm hoping that we get a higher completion rate out of it. We're currently sitting at about 130 claims and I'm a bit worried as I'm running out of places to mention
slashfest at. I've a plan to hit up a bunch of places tomorrow but then? I'm at a loss.
But, this isn't about my wibbling over the lack of claiming, this is really to say that I think that the newsletters and the mods of slash comms are actually really awesome. I've requested permission to pimp at a few comms that say "absolutely no outside comm pimpage" and once they hear that we have people looking to get stories written, the mods have been really really cool. There have been a few mods that have said no and, well, that's their comm and their perogative. It's worth asking and even the ones that say no are way awesome about it. So, really, I haven't experienced a bad mod at any of these comms even when they know I know litle to nothing about their fandom.
I've had my problems with individual editors of some of the newsletters that only pimp their friends but... all in all, in every fandom, the people that run these newsletters are fantastic people. The only complaint I have is when I see a newsletter with hundreds of watchers and the newsletter has fallen to the wayside. It's sort of sad to see, honestly. I don't know if that means the end of that fandom or that the editors are far too busy.
hd_remix is having sign-ups for the next round of remixing... so go sign up. I might have wibbled over my fic last year but the one I received was way awesome. It was, all in all, a fantastic experience.
hd_falling is still holding sign ups for the Merry Month of May fest.
My
serpentinelion fic is going in the wrong direction. I had hit 9k, went down to 8.5k, went up to 10k, went down to 8k... I just can't get this one section written and it's killing my productivity. I'm so fixated on this story that I can't focus on the others as well.
I'm spending the day not doing a damn thing and it's lovely. We have a huge roast in the crockpot and my little sister is throwing up downstairs. She had some bad pizza/applesauce last night. We can't tell which one it was but boy howdy is she sick. For once, it isn't me getting sick. I will, eventually, do my bits for the
rpg_prophet but other than that? It's big fat lazy day for me.
We've watched some of the shittiest movies ever today. The sad bits? I've seen them all before so I can't even count them towards my resolution reviews. We've watched Mean Girls, Fat Albert and 13 Going on 30 already today. I can only wait to see what other dreck we watch. However, I have, on my own, re-watched Boondock Saints and The Departed so that I can get into the mood to write both of these for
slashfest.
Final bit of news... The Black Donnellys... if enough people stream it on nbc.com and/or download it from iTunes, it might be back. Sooooooo, would you all mind streaming it? Streaming is free and just keep doing it. Let's all do our parts, yeah? It's a good show even if nbc is a bunch of putzes.
How are all of you? Having a good Easter?
