Fanfic rant - Why the hell would you automatically increase the rating cause it might possibly contain Teh Gheys? This is annoying and, I know that you, the fucktard authors, don't care, but dude, srsly, I'm not going to read you if you think a fic is deserving of a higher rating cause it contains a homosexual relationship.

/rant

Spent all day yesterday with my nephews. Got my ass handed to me at UNO. By a 3 year old & a 5 year old. I'm sort of failcakes at UNO, methinks.

Then we went and raced cars where we got a couple of dickhead kids kicked out for ramming us so hard that they flipped around in an accident. Dude, 3 year old in the car, mkthx. A little caution would not be remiss.

Nephews have actually been well-behaved for the most part. I'm going to try to get video of my younger nephew rocking out with the microphone from guitar hero as he sang the ABCs and started it with "are you ready to rock!?" and then proceeded to perform a death-metal version of the ABCs. It was so frelling cute. I love my Dibs.

Have you guys seen Sam Worthington's IMDB? He's in Avatar with Zoe Saldano which, yanno, awesome. But then take a look at his upcoming movies. Hello nothing new and remakes. Clash of the Titans getting remade? Really? Dude, it's a classic. Stop fucking with it. At least it has Liam Neeson, Ralph Feinnes and Mads Mikkelsen in it. All of those actors are awesome. though I lol at them naming all the Greek names except for Ares/Mars. Cause, yanno, his name is too obscure so we need to label that character as "god of war".

Then remaking 20000 Leagues Under the Sea? Srsly? Another classic. At least that looks sort of new as it's almost a prequel. Maybe. Alas, Sam Worthington is really fucking hot and, thus, I will go to see both of these.

I wrote something that actually makes me think that I should flag it as adult content in my own journal. I've always been anti-"adult content" labelling but this fic really makes me think that's a good way to go. It took me about 4-5 tries to get it written as it gave me the heebiejeebies so much. I just wish that there was a way to have a header appear outside of the flagging. Thus, probably will not flag it but, still, so tempted.

Off for another day of nephew time. I'm so excited! We're going to go to the pool.

This annoys me too. I find it ridiculous when someone will warn "rated for m/m kissing" or something. The worst is when it happens in a fandom like Torchwood where the slash is canon but it's always struck me as stupid and immature, regardless.

"Then remaking 20000 Leagues Under the Sea? Srsly? Another classic."

I'm so disillusioned with mainstream cinema and the amount of remakes is a big reason for it. It feels as though there are more remakes being done than completely original movies. Even if there isn't, the number of remakes does feel really high at the moment. I generally ignore them completely, myself.

I just do not see the need for the warning. Like, today, in a SLASH comm, someone warned for "m/m slash. Don't like, don't read". Um, you're in a slash comm. Is that really necessary?

I'm really disillusioned too. I've seen some brilliant independent movies and I keep wondering why the big producers don't pick the more creative stuff coming from the independent movies. I'm slowly turning into one of those "stop raping my childhood to get another dollar out of it" people.

I'm cool with some of them but the Clash of the Titans ones has me sort of boggled. Sure, the special effects haven't held up, but, the little metal owl totally makes it because he's so clunky.

Not everything needs CGI, dammit. A lesson George Lucas could stand to learn.

I'm turning toward independent stuff too, and foreign films. Seriously, I've only been to the cinema TWICE this year. Once for Trek, once for Public Enemies. There's nothing else I want to see in the cinema until The Lovely Bones comes out in, oh, January. It's crazy!

I don't know why the suits in the film and tv industries treat the viewer like they do. It would be really nice if they treated us with at least an ounce of intelligence and respect, you know?

While there are some movies where a remake, in the right hands, could be interesting, most just don't need one. I keep hearing that Will Smith wants to remake The Karate Kid for example, and I like Will Smith but...

I've been to the cinema multiple times but they haven't been all that great of movies, tbh. I liked them but they're nothing that I'd write home about.

HOMG the Karate Kid thing and, of course, his son would be the starring role. *facepalm*

Cinema's so expensive I'm really careful about what I'll pay to see. Otherwise I don't mind waiting for the dvd release because they usually come out super fast these days.

It's just, Will, can't you create a new movie for your kid? Don't murder the childhood of countless people. :( It would be like Tom Cruise remaking The Princess Bride for Suri in a few years time. :shudder:

Damn you for mentioning that in public. Now it's going to happen. And when it does, I will hold you accountable. *glares*

Can't you just see the pitch? Tom Cruise walks into the rool and says "we're remaking the Princess Bride" and the studio people are all "but how are you going to improve it? And Tom will be all "Suri." And the studio people (and I totally typed stupido instead) will say "perfect".

And they'll cast the Zac Efron/Rob Pattinson style-pretty boy of the moment as Wesley.

Ugh. Brain bleach. Now.

I know that we just friended one another but, unfortunately, I now must defriend you and tell you that I hate you for that image that you've put in my head. Oh god. *flails and feels sick to her stomach*

You are evil incarnate and I like it.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH Maybe they'll use one of will smith's kids!

I'M SORRY, I'M SORRY! I am a sick, sick person. I acknowledge I need professional help.

Guess they let me out of that padded room too soon, huh?

Ugh, I hate when people do that. I won't read a fic by an author who does that, or by an author who warns for m/m or f/f. Argh, people.

I don't mind remakes so much when the director has something genuinely new to say about the source material. But most of the time it just seems as if: 1) they can't think of anything better to do and 2) they just want to add sex and slick special effects. Meh.

Seriously. Same. Today in the one slash comm, someone warned for slash and then said "don't like, don't read". um, dude, you're posting in a slash comm. We're all aware that it contains slash.

Definitely on the CGI thing, especially (yes, George Lucas, I'm looking at you). There is no need to clean up a lot of this stuff. There really isn't. The fact that they're clunky sort of makes the movie at times.

I think point 3 is - they want to milk more money from it.

I am also distressed about the lack of originality in art/media these days. EVERYTHING is being remade. That's all that's out there. WHY WORLD WHY?

Oh man, me too. Just, srsly, Hollywood is supposed to be so creative. Where is that creativity!?

Also also - HOMG WELCOME BACK YOU HAVE BEEN MISSED!

It's stuck in some starving writer's desk drawer while they work 9-5. D: Also I just found out that they're remaking Hallowe'en II. *weeps*

HI! THANKS! <3 I missed you, too! Summer was dumb. Haha.
