Haven't really updated in a week so here goes, personal life drivel and a few rants -

When you visit Arizona and the locals tell you to drink loads of water, they really mean, drink loads of water. I don't give a flying fuck that you're from Manitoba and think you know more about the desert because you visited once four years ago and didn't have a problem. Seriously.

Backstory - I went to an airshow this weekend at Davis-Monthan AFB and it was awesome. The things these guys could do with their planes were just amazingly awesome. However, the malicious bitch in me says that the most entertaining bit was when above asshole from Manitoba took me to task for telling him he looked a mite red and pale and that he might, perhaps, want to drink some more water or get heatstroke. Ok, so that wasn't entertaining, that was the frustrating bit. What was entertaining was when he passed out cold and the ambulance had to take him away not even an hour later.

I've had heatstroke. It's not pretty. Actually - I got heatstroke from waiting outside the movie theater in a really huge long line to purchase Phantom Menace tickets. Fun times for all. I tried and he didn't listen. I got to say I told you so, though, so I guess all's well that ends with an asshole in an ambulance.

Dogsitting actually went fairly well. Except for the big ole shit that one of the dogs took in the shower. And the bite to my ankle. And them coming home early when I hadn't quite finished cleaning/packing. They came home a day early and I had about 45 minutes warning that they were on their way. Their dogs had been nesting in my suitcase and, thus, had strewn my clothes all across the bedroom. Loads of fun trying to find everything.

Have almost completely finished my sns assignment. Have about 500 words of my springtimegen assignment done. Have about 600 words of my serpentinelion claim done. All three have sorta odd plots so I'm not sure if I like any of them but it's a bit late to be changing crap around. I will be sending these things out to beta hopefully by this weekend. *crosses fingers*

I had another rant about people acting all ZOMGsurprised about me doing shit that they had no clue about even though I've posted about it four times in my journal or about people acted like something's new when I posted about it a week before but it's not even worth it. Read, don't read, it's your choice.

So, a different rant - I've been listening to Air America Radio lately and omg, so annoyed at their commercials. Just because I'm a liberal does NOT mean that I am an optimist. In point of fact, most of the liberals I know are BITTER PESSIMISTS that have had their ideals and compassion raped by this administration. So, why the fuck do most of the advertisers have the sunshine and daisies marketing? One ad from this morning was "the pessimist child was given loads of toys and bitched about it while the optimist child was given a barrel of horseshit and thought there was a pony in there somewher and blahblahblah since you're an optimist buy this product". I wanted to reach through the radio and slug that fucker. The advertising is so patently condescending that I kept turning it off hoping that if I went back, it wouldn't be there but it was almost every sodding commercial. They even had an "optimist" ad for metal sheds. SHEDS!!! What does optimism have to do with sheds?!

For those of you that listen to Air America - what's your favorite program? I've been listening to Sam Seder and he's alright but I like how pissed off Randi Rhodes gets. There was a replay on yesterday about the absymal treatment of troops and fucking with medical records to send injured soldiers back to Iraq that was really awesome. She doesn't seem to be so frothing at the mouth, lately. Did I just luck into one that wasn't so omg!rage?

Is Janeane Garofalo still on?

You know, I have to say I've never assumed anyone reads every single thing I post. If I post about something a second time, I'll often link back to the first post, in case people wonder why the hell I'm talking about something seemingly out of the blue. LJ has such a short attention span, and something you post about four days ago might as well have been four months ago, because so much has happened in the meantime. And if you're like me and have waaay too many people on your flist, it starts to get hard to remember if it was Wook or Tara who said that.

Or perhaps I am just one of those many idiots. ;-)

I don't assume the majority of my flist reads me. There are about 10 or so people that I do make the assumption that they are reading and that part is really directed more towards them.

You're definitely not one of "those many idiots"... I figure your flist is, well, huge, so not every post is goign to get read. You comment when it counts/matters the most and that always makes me feel loved :).

Hee!

Your comment above about waiting in line for TPM tickets totally took me back to the day I did that. I'm not sure if you lived in Tucson then, but I had a moment of OMG what if we totally walked past each other a hundred times and never knew it?? :-P

Sometimes I feel stalkerish when I make Tucson comments, heh.

Did you go to the Century Park at Grant and I-10? That's where I did my waiting. I was stuck in the back lefthand corner of the building (if you're looking at the front). There were some wicked cool people waiting around me!

Keep making the Tucson comments! Maybe we'll even be able to go out for burritos or something!

OMG, yes!! I lived near Grant and Silverbell, so that was the closest theatre to my house! I went with a bunch of friends from grad school, and we waited in line the day the tickets went on sale and then went to a show that was noonish on the first day. The film broke about halfway through and we had to wait about 15 minutes for it to be fixed. They gave us all free tickets to come back and see it again, so we went back the next day.

Wow, we were both in that line! How cool!

Not only that but... I went to a show at like 12:15 and the film broke, no joke.

OMG, we were probably in the same theater. We ended up going to another show that night. I went like 5 times that first day.
