With the recent changes to LJ - if you are reposting comments to Facebook/Twitter, do me a favor and don't do it off my LJ. I'd prefer that my flocked posts stay flocked, plzkthx.

Also - LJ rolling something out without thinking abou the ramifications? Color me not surprised.

I'd also like my / back in my tags plzkthx.

Yet again, LJ, fail.

Yeah, I don't like this. But I did just read the [livejournal.com profile] news entry about it and discovered that flocked entries will stay flocked, even if someone wants to post their friends-only comments to Facebook (why would you want to?)

Still. I don't like it.

Yeah, it just makes me weird. Like - a lot of the comments directly allude if not outright reference the original post so the post itself might remain flocked but the contents might end up being summarized or whatevs and posted anywhere. It makes me weird.

I just hate the idea of it.

I... really don't understand what they've done. Like, on a tech-fail kind of not understanding level. Did they make a feature that posts your lj posts to twitter/facebook? I'm so confused... :-/

Basically, from what I'm understanding from the [livejournal.com profile] news post on it - you can choose to repost your comments to facebook and/or twitter when you post a comment on LJ, even if you're commenting on someone else's flocked LJ post. So, say I post about zomg, evil boss and you respond and crosspost your response - my boss could find the post because you referenced her name and she could know/assume that I was talking/posting/thinking smack about her, even if she isn't seeing my original post. (btw, completely erroneous example as my bosses are awesome incarnate) Thus - it doesn't post my post word for word but it does break the flock and allow for random people on twitter and facebook to know your response to my post.

Then, somehow - LJ broke the ability to have a / in your tags. IDK how they did it or why but it's completely broken.

Oh, man. This *is* troubling. Not that I mention a whole lot of rl stuff by name, but I flock my journal for a reason! Why does lj think it needs to be facebook or twitter? It's like your dad trying to get away with wearing baggy pants and a big gold chain to look hip and cool. Just... no. Be what you ARE, lj!

Yeah, it really is. If you want to crosspost your own LJ, you go for it. I just want the ability to not have people crosspost shit from my flocked LJ, yanno? Like you said - it's flocked for a fucking reason.

I really wish LJ would actually think about the ramifications before they acted. Just once. I don't think it's that much to ask because they've failed so many times and so fucking hard before this. It's not like a fucking surprise or something.

Plus - wtf with the / fuckup?

I saw the option on under the comment box before I saw the news and was literally like "what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck???"

It freaks me out more than a lot, just on principle. And this will hardly be the first time somebody does something like this and doesn't realize how it will bite everyone in the ass until it is too late.

FAIL FAIL FAIL. But I've been seeing that there might be ways to at least block this out on journals as if it never existed. Why they thought this was a wise idea, who knows. D:
