Thank you so much for answering my question and sharing this memory. I asked it because many of my holiday memories are pretty unpleasant. So, I've made it a tradition, of sorts, to ask my flist to share holiday memories, traditions, etc. The comments, emails, etc that I've received have been filled with wonderful moments that i treasure hearing about. This is no exception.
I am sitting here with tears streaming down my face. The good kind but tears nonetheless. Your grandfather sounds like a wonderful man and it brings me joy to know that you had such wonderful moments with him. Next time I have pumpkin pie (one of my favourites as well), I'll spare a thought for him.
