I didn't even know about this until right now, when you posted it - and trust me that I'm absolutely disgusted, and am sending off an e-mail to all of those addresses immediately. Was this more of a localy covered issue? Because I had no idea it happened and I think it would have gotten more widespread attention (especially from fandom) if otherwise. Hmmm.
