We had an amazing set of authors and artists sign-up for the
hd_worldcup. In the end, no vidders signed up so we had to redo the numbers for each of the positions. I'm thinking it's an awesome thing as there's another artist position and art is love <3.
The 2009 Teams! There's some amazing quality right there. New and returning people, new and well-known names. I'm very excited for this round! I was a bit worried there for a bit that we wouldn't have enough sign-ups but some awesome pimping by flist members (yes, I credit all of you) and at some awesome communities really got the ball rolling. <3 you all!
The only bit that annoys me with HDC is that I keep getting asked if I write H/D (and poor
accioscar can attest to the look I get on my face when people ask me this. It's sort of twisted up and stuffs :P). I DO! I HAVE! Just, um, not really since DH. My Memories have my fic in it. Though, um, ignore Voice in the Dark. It's bad an abandoned WIP. And the
hd_365 won't make much sense unless you read the comm as so much of it is based on the comm as a whole.
My 7 fave H/D I've written in no specific order are:
Moments
White
Dandelions and Dreams
Moments of Truth Between the Lies
The Latin Trilogy (Deprecor, Experior, Insequor).
One Last Fare (One Last Fare, Dreaming in Madrid and A Long Overdue Conversation)
and A Good Book (see? I've even participated in H/D Centric Fests!)
Most of them aren't happy (and only one of them is DH compliant) but I don't think I write 'happy' well. Some of them aren't the strongest writing as I've matured since then. But they all have a special place in my heart. So, see? I do write H/D. I have about 4 started... I just haven't finished any of them. /defence of my H/D involvement.
So what are you guys most looking forward to at
hd_worldcup? What's your favourite piece from last year? What team are you cheering on?
ETA: GreatestJournal is back up until January 30th if you guys need it. Not sure if some of you were aware but I remember reading a few posts about lost rpgs.

Date: 2009-01-15 09:17 am (UTC)Also, yes, of course, The Wook writes H/D. The Wook is like a magical thing and writes a great many different things. I believe this is because The Wook is a magical being of great and discerning taste that needs many different flavours for its table. :D
Also, I'm terrified about worldcup, but that's all me. I really didn't think I'd make it past the hat-tossing round. ~meep~
It will be all good. I'm looking forward to prompts and team assignments etc. I'm interested to see where I fall in all that. ~prompts!~ ~assignments!~ ~Oh My!~

Date: 2009-01-15 04:43 pm (UTC)LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL The Wook is definitely not a magical being :P. But I do love me some multiple things.
You will be AWESOME in this. Dude. Anytime you need a pep talk, you tell me :D. I'm sure everyone else in your team is terrified, too. It's a big responsibility but, in the end, it's not going to ruin your life if your team loses. Ok. Maybe you shouldn't come to me for a pep talk.
Prompts and stuffs are up so you can see what's going on there :D.

Date: 2009-01-15 01:36 pm (UTC)I'm really excited for this year's fest and I'm so happy we got enough people. Are we still doing the seeker thing by the way? Cos that idea was cool. Intimidating but cool. :)
I must say it is very odd to be cheering on Team EWE this rime round. My brain keeps calling me traitor. *laughs*

Date: 2009-01-15 04:47 pm (UTC)Intimidating but cool. - That's EXACTLY the reaction I was hoping for. The Seeker position is wicked cool but man. Picking the best work and team member and stuffs? THEN keeping quiet about you being that position? Holy moly, that's hard.
LOLLOLOL - you are so a traitor *mock glares*. Try not being able to cheer on any team. It's really weird not to get to go "Team EWE has this great fic!!! And Team Epilogue has AWESOME ART! and Team AU, oh man, wait until you see this!"

Date: 2009-01-15 05:21 pm (UTC)Yes! Keeping up with my self-imposed gag order last year was torture. I couldn't rec anything or squee about fics! It was really painful! Why did I sign up for this again?! *laughs*
I just hope my brain will cooperate again this year. I don't want to come up with dreck. That would be embarassing. *laughs* But I am excited for prompts!

Date: 2009-01-15 02:28 pm (UTC)I think we feel we must torture them in some way... It's just a thing we do.
but I don't think I write 'happy' well - that made me grin so much because whilst true, what you do write makes me very happy.
HDC - fic,art,angst,lovin'... Favorite art was by >lj user="red-rahl" and story was... nah there were too many - I mean seriously good stuff that made my jaw drop when reading I was that engrossed in some of them.
and as for which team *looks up* got to stick with my old team

Date: 2009-01-15 04:48 pm (UTC)Torture is good for the soul. Builds character! What doesn't kill them (and ok, it kills them some of the time), only makes them stronger!
There really are amazing amounts of works from last round, aren't there?

Date: 2009-01-15 05:34 pm (UTC)The other I fail at because I can't remember who wrote it nor can I remember the exact title but I think it might have been from team fanon and it's the story told in several different ways going reverse in time but it always ends with Draco and Harry shagging. I should really go back and find out what the fic is called. *sucks for not knowing* ETA: "What Could Have Been (And What Was)" that was the story and I loved it. Now I can suck less.
I am cheering for team Epilogue a little bit because they have a lot to get around to keep their stories 100% to canon. You know me, I will totally know if they didn't! Also I think

Date: 2009-01-15 09:48 pm (UTC)I'm actually curious to see what people can come up with now that there are three teams instead of four like last round, to be honest. I'm also happy that enough people signed up (of course that's one less thing for you to worry about).
We'll see what happens, eh?
