Nov. 7th, 2008 07:28 amUnpopular opinion on the flist but... I like the new profile. I find it easier to navigate and find shit. You're more than entitled to not like it, I'm just saying that I do like it.
I'm halfway tempted to get a permanent account but will I be here in 5 years to make it worth the money?
My mum has a Very Large herniated diaphragm. Basically - almost all of her lower intestines are in her lung cavity so she's going in for surgery. She's had a hard rock in her chest/abdomen area for months and we've jokingly called it her tumor but it turns out that it's this diaphragm thing. Anyone have any experience with this so as to keep me from wibbling too much? Cause the surgeon is making noises about cracking open my mother's entire chest cavity to do the surgery and, um, that just sounds horrible and painful and dangerous.
I was going to go to bed early last night and try to catch up on the sleep I've not been getting but I ended up doing community maintenance instead. I went on hiatus at
hogwarts_today as I just don't have the time for it with working the crazy hours and writing for zeeeee fests and sticking to my resolutions.
The first sets of lawsuits against Prop 8 have been filed/are being filed. I'm very excited about a couple of the arguments. I'm also hopeful that if Prop 8 can be argued down, then all the other bigotry and discrimantory laws against gay marriage across the country can be argued down, as well.
Christmas is coming and I'll be making a post about sending out cards to the flist. I'm still hoping to commission some art for cards but I've left it to the last minute so IDK that that'll happen. Plus - I have like thirty boxes of cards in the garage. No joke, there are thirty out there at last count but I think I might have bought more.
Not doing Nano as I have too many commitments and not enough spare time (see above comment about hiatus). My schedule at Fry's got figured out finally and I'm up to 30 hours a week until January at least. We're no longer going to the dude ranch for my mum as she's not going to be allowed to ride horses with this whole thing. So, I'll prolly end up paying for my Azkatraz stuffs instead. IDK that I want to pay for a registration as I just like hanging out with the peeps more than the panels. I found most of the panels I attended at Terminus to be tedious. There were only like 3 of them that I really enjoyed.
Work :(. I'm sort of over it.

and if you're going to Azkatraz, do you have roommates yet? Because I think I'm going but it's contingent upon me finding people to share the hotel room with, lol.

Date: 2008-11-08 10:21 pm (UTC)And, you sound like my Mom! She's a Christmas-card-buying nut, too! One year, for a joke, I gave her a box of Christmas cards for Christmas. She was thrilled.

Date: 2008-11-10 06:03 am (UTC)Terminus's panels were blergh. I haven't heard much about what people are proposing at Azkatraz other than a bit of "here's the panels I want to see so you guys propose them dammit" sort of commentary from one of the programming people.
Meeting up with fandom peeps and hanging out? That rocks. I loved it at Lumos and I especially loved it at Terminus. Wicked amounts of fun. The
drinkinghanging out is WAY fun. Drabbling IRL? You can't beat it.no subject
