Fic tomorrow but for today - kaalee wanted pictures of my feet and wendy wanted pictures of my new house. We're still finishing up crap (slowest unpacking evah) but I've taken a few of some of the cooler bits of the painting I've been doing. I also took a few photographs during a lull in one of the monsoon storms while getting off the highway (yes, I was stopped at the time for most of them).

ETA: I was talking to kaalee about how I don't have any earlobes. She didn't believe me/couldn't figure that out - see in this photo (please ignore giant brown blob. My battery is dying and the flash doesn't work the greatest...), I have no earlobe. My ear goes straight in. Look, ma, no dangly earlobe! -




Anyone else have anything they'd like to see? As long as it isn't horribly embarrassing, I'm more than willing. I have to go buy a cord for the camera as my father took it with him when he went back to PA (even though it didn't fit his camera) but I'll upload as soon as I get a chance.

Ah, that's genetic, whether your earlobes hang down or not. There's a term for it but damned if I can remember it...

Wikipedia to the rescue! "Free" and "attached". You have attached earlobes, but they are still there, silly. ;) That means that both your parents have attached earlobes, since that's the recessive.

Yes! Definitely adopted.

Or else they're both heterozygous for the gene, (ie both have a copy of the dominant and recessive verion of the allele, meaning the dominant wins, and they have free earlobes) and thus you had a 1/4 chance of inheriting the recessive from each, and have the recessive attached version.

no, it means I was being an idiot. your parents both carry one copy of the attached earlobe gene (everyone has 2 copies... so one of theirs is free and the other attached, and since free is dominant, theirs are free). and you got one copy of attached from each of them.

I got an A in genetics in college, I swear. I just... ya know, temporarily forgot the really basic stuff.

Oh definitely :) Will be posting as I go, I'm thinking. We're finishing up the bathroom and the guest room this weekend. I'm also going to be (kinda) doing up my room this weekend as well.

I haven't yet decided what I'm doing with it yet, though :(. So, we'll see.

BTW _ are you thinking of going to Terminus?

hmm, where is terminus? i can definitely see myself going to an hp con next summer. i was kind of eyeing the one in oxford, but that will probably be too expensive. it's such a bummer you won't be at prophecy :((
