wook77: (harry/draco killing each other really)
[personal profile] wook77

Hello all. I decided to give [livejournal.com profile] jamie2109 's AWDT a try this week. Here is my entry into the fun.

Title: Manifesto

Author: [personal profile] wook77

Rating: G

Pairing: Draco/Harry

Word Count: 438

Summary: The great manifesto isn’t coming out so well.

Warnings: Um, slash? kind of? sort of?

Disclaimer: I solemnly swear to put everything back when I’m done with them.

A/N: The prompt for this week was "It was a dark and stormy night". Any comments will be greatly appreciated as they help me to grow as an author. Flamers will, of course, be mocked.

The sound of typing filled the room. The henpecking fingers painstakingly picked each and every letter. The man behind the typewriter was not used to anything Muggle. His lover, now husband, had attempted to show him what a computer was. That was an exercise in futility as far as the man was concerned. With a huff, he ripped the paper out of the typewriter, crumpled it up and tossed it towards the huge pile already thrown there in the corner. With a new sheet in the typewriter, he started again.

It was a dark and stormy night. Harry Potter, the Hero of the Wizarding world was cold, tired and wet. Tonight, this dark and stormy night, was the night that he would finally face the evil and tyrannical Lord Voldemort. Both were arch-nemesis and lifelong enemies. Forever destined to do battle, the two combatants held their wands at the ready and exchanged taunts.

“You are a scruffy-looking, half-witted sheepherder!”

“Why you little scurvious knave! You are the son of a goat!”

“You shall perish at my hand and I shall dance on your grave!”

“You are mistaken, baby wizard, it is YOU who shall perish at MY hand and I shall rule the world!” A manicacl manaiccl maniacll maniacal

The paper was ripped once more out of the typewriter. The frustrated young man roughly brushed his hair out of his eyes with the back of one hand while he reloaded the machine once more.

“Stupid Muggles! No wonder the Dark Lord wanted to get rid of all of you if this is the best you can come up with! I’m trying to write my manifesto and instead, I’m stuck with a mountain of paper. UGH!!!!” Another swipe of his hand and the young man started once more.

It was a dark and strummy night.

“ARGH! I give up! Do you hear me?! You win!” The young man stormed over to the window and threw it open. He quickly stomped back to the desk and picked up the old typewriter. With an almost running start, the typewriter was heaved out the window to crash on the street below. The man waited for the satisfying crash to sound. When no sound occurred, he waited some more.

Finally, he walked over to the window and looked out. His typewriter was hovering in mid-air. Standing a little bit away from it was his lover. The dark-haired man stood with his wand pointing at the typewriter. A smirk lit his face as he met the furious gaze of the blond man in the window.

“Death by typewriter, Draco? That’s the most creative I’ve ever seen you get!”

As soon as I read the prompt, I thought of Snoopy up on his roof typing out his story and getting so upset when someone interrupted him. His stories always started out, It was a dark and stormy night... My brain transitioned to Draco trying to write a cheeseball novel.

I had a blast writing this! Thanks so much for commenting and letting me participate!

My mum actually gave me the idea. When I was in high school, my mum tried to toss a microwave out a two story window while screaming at it. Our neighbor below yelled up about "death by microwave".

I just had to write Draco doing the same thing.

:) Thanks! I totally relate to it too. My spacebar doesn't work on my laptop unless you really pound it. I've wanted to toss this thing out the window countless times.

Thanks for reading!

Poor Draco, thwarted in his attempts to satisfyingly smash something! Oh, and your story? It made me laugh, and I adored it.

:) I'm glad I made you laugh and that you liked it!

I'm with ya, poor Draco. When I read your comment, all I could think was a line from a cartoon, "Drats! Foiled again!"

I adore snarky sweet Draco. He always seems to get the worst of all the angst (at least I've given him way too much in other stories). I wanted a happy if frustrated one.

I tried to make it more of vignette into a happy established relationship. I hopefully succeeded!
