I'll put these under cuts so that I don't take a bunch of your space on your flist. I've also broken out my holiday icon as it's finally after Thanksgiving so I don't feel like such a lame asshole for listening to Christmas Music (yes, I listen to it in July, gotta problem with that? *evil eye*)

I am thankful for the fact that I am here, alive and kicking. I was supposed to host the wook family Thanksgiving this year. However, a little over two weeks ago, my brother's mother-in-law had a stroke. Due to a variety of reasons (including medicine interactions and malpractice), she is now in a non-responsive vegetative state. I've always said that if I can't take care of myself (ie, if I need someone to wipe my ass), please do not allow it to continue. I want dignity and there is nothing dignified about having someone clean up your bum. MIL is now at another hospital and the doctor's are cautiously optimistic (IMNSHO, this translates to "don't know jackshit but want the family to be hopeful") that she may surface with damage.

I am thankful that I am still vibrant and alive. MIL was always vibrant, even if I disliked her.

I am thankful for LJ for giving me a place to discuss this type of occurrence at.

I am thankful for my LJ friends. There hasn't been a one that hasn't been wonderful.

I am thankful for moderators who eventually allow a change in "exchange partners" due to a personal squick. Going along on this, I'm thankful for the opportunity to write Sirius/Remus thankyouverymuch.

Finally, I'm thankful for the fact that I had food to eat, dogs to spoil and money to spend today.

The rules
♥Step One: Make a post (Public, Friendslocked, Filtered... Whatever you're comfortable with!) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes; the wishes can be anything at all, from simple & fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me",) to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD"), to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV."). The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want. If you wish for real life things (Not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (Or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (It'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

♥Step Two: Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part: If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free, do it...

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not; it's your call! There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just... Wish & it might come true. Give & you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special...

My Holiday wishes:

1.) I wish that I had artistic talent as I would love to draw an illustration for so many fics.

2.) I wish I had the commitment to go back to school and finish those last 6 classes and finally get a bachelor's degree after 11 years.

3.) I wish I had a job that inspired me.

4.) I wish that a few of the people on my flist would be listed on the some of the newsletters like [livejournal.com profile] hd_prophet. Going along with this, I wish that the people on my flist would reach a happier place in their lives. They deserve it.

5.) I wish that if "it" is going to happen, that "it" happens soon because Claire feels enough pain and pressure right now.

6.) I wish that my business would be successful, finally.

7.) I wish that George Bush would get impeached.

8.) I wish that Tucson had an affiliate of AirAmerica.

9.) I wish that Laurell K. Hamilton would put out the next books in both her series!

10.) It seems greedy to list this one... I wish that someone would do some fanart based on some of my favorite fics that I've written, a fic written just for me or something that says they thought of me.

Hmm, I don't really see any wishes on your list that I could actually fulfill. Although, speaking of the [livejournal.com profile] hd_prophet, you could try sending an email with a few recs in it. I did that once and it got added, so... I'm not sure if they are selective or if they just expect people to email with fic updates, etc. I guess there is only one way to find out!

Who is Laurell K. Hamilton?

Hope you had a good Thanksgiving!

Oops, I was going to write this in my other comment and then forgot:

So you got a new fic-exchange assignment? Yay!!!

*hugs*

I don't get your icon. I mean, I know who Jango is, but... no-horse, sealed slave? *confused*

Hi, Wookie! *huggles*
Wish list meme is soooo self-less, I think you can be more selfish, babe ;)

Also, I owe you commission art! I think I'm going to start working on yours since I cannot seem to get ahold of Emma. Soo! You'll be getting 10 for me anytime soon *mwah*

Hope you had a lovely thanksgiving.

Hi, wookiee! Just wanted to let you know that I've friended you, though I probably should have done it sooner instead of just randomly dropping by & lurking around your lj.

don't see much on your wishlist that I can help with -- i can't draw stick figures! -- but I'll keep my fingers crossed & send warm wishes your way!

I rec people but only one has ever shown up on [livejournal.com profile] hd_prophet.

Laurell K Hamilton is a brilliant author. She writes the Anita Blake - Vampire Hunter series and the Merry Gentry series. She's addictive and snarky and hot. If you like vampire fics or anything like that, check out Anita Blake. You'll seriously become addicted.

I had a good Thanksgiving... plenty of food (am still eating leftovers) and I had some friends over so that was cool, as well.

Yeah, I did... I was psyched when I got the email. I just couldn't do menstrual blood kink for the holidays.

Jango Fett's ship was the Slave I. So, no-horse sealed slave... do you get it now?

I'm a pretty self-less person, as much as I try to be a snarky bitch.

I'm waiting patiently for the commission art... just let me know how much I owe you. (giggles in glee!!!!)

wooohooo! I'm always happy for new friends!

I can't draw stick figures either...so I'm cool with that! Thanks for the warm wishes!

Oh my god I am an idiot... if I had just thought through the original lyrics... *face/palm* Although, I didn't know the ship's name was the Slave I, so maybe I wouldn't have. Hee.

So glad you have been relieved of "holiday menstrual blood kink fic" responsibilities!

Oh, see, I had no idea. It might have helped that the one time I sent in an email, it was for a sort of well-known author that I was surprised wasn't already on there... Hmm.

Just what I need, another addiction! Heh. Thanks for the explanation. Sounds quite interesting...

It's a-ok... someday, people will get rec'd. The only story I've ever really wanted rec'd on [livejournal.com profile] hd_prophet of mine was "moments" but that didn't seem to get a fantastic response. It's my favorite of my own work but hey, c'est la vie.

She's a brilliant author. There's way too many books in the series, though, so you'll be writing for quite awhile.

Naw, it's ok... took me a second or two to figure it out as well... but I do like it.

Yeah, it makes me quite happy. I just found out that I had another 4 challenges/exchanges I volunteered for. Gah, why did I do this to myself?!
