I love Shelter and Latter Days. They are not without their faults, but I enjoyed both of them a lot. My favorite LGBT movie ever is Summer Storm, which is German and is just gorgeous in every way. I also love Just a Question of Love, which is French. Both are a bit angsty, but not depressing. I think you'll like them, or at least I hope you will. :)
