I really don't believe anyone in-text thinks of him as "Spock Prime". Well, thinks maybe, but when a writer uses the phrase, especially in dialog, it takes me right out of the story.
The pegboard image was brilliant, as was Kirk's rebuttal when McCoy brought it up.
