That holiday wish thing. Under the cut to spare the flist -

Step One

- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Dean/Seamus icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

My Wishes

1.) That everyone comment on everything they read/view and enjoy this holiday season. After 30 days, something becomes habit and routine and, thus, loads commenting continues forever and ever amen. The most common thing I hear from people in fandom is that they don't get very many comments to things they write or draw so, please, even if it's just "I really liked this", leave a comment - anon fest or no.

2.) I'll be greedy on this one. Art from Star Wars Daily Calendar and the Bush Countdown Calendars (Wall or daily.)

3.) Random acts of kindness towards others. Whether it's saying thank you to the person holding the door or you holding the door or whatever, it would be lovely if we'd all take a moment to remember the small acts of kindness (and manners). The words "thank you" are not said nearly enough.

4.) Give an animal and the gift of hope to someone with a gift that keeps going - Heifer.org. Do it in my name or not. It's the doing that's important.

5.) Write me a fic or draw me some art. You should all know my preferences by now *winks*.

6.) R2D2 Mr. Potatohead or Optimus Prime Mr. Potatohead. What can I say, I'm a geek. I already have Darth Tater and the Stormtater.

7.) Save your Coke Reward codes and email them to me if you're not going to use them.

8.) Go through your stuff and donate it to worthy causes. Shelters and children's homes are especially needy during the holidays. Your books and clothes, toys and gently used stuffed animals could make a huge difference in someone's life. I know in Tucson, there are two shelters that take gently used stuffed animals and, after a bath, they're gifted to the children. Can you imagine how brilliant that has to be to get a stuffed animal of your very own, a brand new friend, when you don't even have a place to live let alone anything of your own? They'll have someone to listen to all their trials and tribulations. Don't just think Salvation Army or Goodwill, look for other places as well. Local libraries sometimes donate donated books to children in need, as well.

9.) Dump your change into those bellringers' baskets this holiday season. I'm not asking for big checks tossed in there. You don't have to give a fifty or whatever, just, when you're walking out of the store/mall/whatever, dump whatever change you received into the basket. It's not much to you but when you add up all that change, boy howdy does it make a difference. Remember, those people are out there in the cold (yes, even down here, it's cold) ringing a bell for a good cause. Empty your pockets and help out.

10.) I cannot think of anything to put here. If you have something you'd want to do for me or I've said I'd like something that I don't currently have, then, yanno, feel free to do it/give it.

I'm going to pimp the Christmas Card Poll once more. Remember, you do not have to send me one to get one. I want to send them out to you. I know there are people on the flist that have not filled it out that I sent to last year let alone the new people on my list.
