Hope everyone's Thanksgiving was awesome though I've seen that some of them were traditional horrible ones. What is it about families that "allows" them to be so cruel to one another?

Anyway, mine, for once, was brilliant. My brother and his family came down so yayes for nephew time. My nephews were really well behaved, too. It was quite a shock. Only thing that would've made the day better was a nap but, alas, there was a Penguins game on and boy howdy was it a good one :D.

Am so frelling tired due to not napping at all yesterday PLUS getting up early (yesterday and today). However, it is 3:30am and I'm about to head out to the Black Friday sales. I love Black Friday. So much love!!! I don't have much money this year and, to be honest, the sales suck. However, that shan't deter the wook clan because this is a tradition, dammit! Every year my family makes up their game plan and we go after it with verve and vigor. We're now a well-oiled machine with figuring out the best way to get in, get our stuff, get out and on to the next. We plan on hitting at least 5 stores by 10 am (Best Buy, K-Mart, Target, Circuit City and Toys R Us). Then, it's stop for breakfast and right back out again. By 3pm, we should be in bed napping with all of our Christmas shopping completed *grins*.

Random thought - this moodtheme makes me think "surprise buttsecks!" and not crazy...

ETA: Update: 10am and all shopping done and I'm at home.

All I can say is "Fuck you, Best Buy". Best Buy was selling bundled items as one of their doorbusters. Instead of offering the items available as bundles, they only had 10 bundles and you had to hunt a store clerk down to get a voucher. Otherwise, you could pay full retail for each of the separate bundle-items. As in, you can pay for piece a and piece b and piece c which were all available on the fucking shelves separately. Huh, well, your ad says you get the whole fucking thing for one price, you dickwads. This is the last year I go to Best Buy. They pull shit like this every year and I am so completely over it. Plus, add in that there were 6 people arrested for fighting in line and, well, not a good scene.

K-Mart didn't have half the items that were featured in the ad. I wouldn't have minded this had they been there and simply sold out ahead of me. But nope, they didn't have them to begin with and, of course, were not offering rainchecks.

Toys R Us had a bunch of pricks that were in the checkout line that decided to not let people even in to the store because we were "cutting" in line. Um, no. I'm going to buy shit and then get in line like 5 billion people behind you, mkthx. So, we left Toys R Us and ended up buying the stuff for almost the same price at Target.

However, the rest of K-Mart's stuff, Circuit City and Target were all made of win. You three get gold stars! We're heading to Kohl's this afternoon for the post-early bird sales (we need a new toaster and vacuum).

Also, this icon still looks like "surprise buttsecks". Perhaps I need to sleep more.

Off for a nap!

I'm poor & only buying for the kids but I'm DONE. My brother & I got to Walmart at 4:30 this morning, and even though they usually don't unwrap the sale items until exactly 5am, there was already huge lines of people lined up at the registers with their carts full waiting on 5. It was CRAZY. But, now all I have to do is go find a hunting knife for my brother (bday present) and I'm good. So yay! Yall have fun!!

Happy belated Thanksgiving! Glad you had a good time! We partied all day at our house - correction the men partied, the women cleaned and cooked. But we had the wine! ;)

hee, i was wondering if there was someone on my flist who'd get up before dawn to head out to stores :D. i'm utterly fascinated by the whole black friday business, even after years of living here. needless to say, i'm heading to the mall myself today because i do love a busy shopping day [esp. if i don't have to buy anything].

Am poor and not spending more than 25 bucks a person. It's seemed to have worked so far.

GAH, you could not pay me to go to Walmart for the sales. Last year, a kid got trampled and then a fight broke out and the police were called.

I'm glad you had fun. So far, so much fun!!!! (I did eta with the results of this morning's shopping)

It is exhausting but a lot of the stuff are fantastic deals. The sales get progressively suckier and suckier every year, though.

In summation, Best Buy can suck my left nut but Circuit City, Kmart and Target rocked :D

I'm really glad you had fun and hey, she who holds the wine, holds the world :D.

Besides, a man party probably involved football and blech, who wants that? I'd rather watch the hockey games :D

It's fun and if you ever want to know what appeals or whatever, let me know :D. We've been doing it for about 10 years now. It's a brilliant time.

It's amazing what people go for. One year, there was a rush on popcorn tins and really really ugly comforter sets. Like, people were beating each other for them and yelling in the aisles and I kept thinking but they're ugly...

I didn't see all of the Pens' game, but it was, indeed, an awesome comeback!

please do elaborate :D. also, just read your update--so best buy only had ten bundles in the entire store? what??

LOL! you really do have to wonder. what was so good at target? i have to say the mall was pretty disappointing in terms of bargains. there have definitely been better years. still, i managed to get what i was looking for so it's all good :)

YEah, 10 bundles. But they had the Nintendo DS separate from the travel kit separate from the bonus game. So, if you wanted buy everything, you were more than welcome. Except the ad didn't say that. It said it would come bundled. Fucking dickwads. I was pretty pissed.

Target had a big ole air hockey table to give to my nephew. He's only 3 but dude, he's so awesome at air hockey. He's addicted to it!

For me, Black Friday sales are fun because you used to be able to get these fantastic bargains and you'd go out and make "line friends" and have a fantastic time. My family and I, in the midst of all this chaos, get along better than we normally do. We really do have a rocking time. Plus, it's wicked fun to go out and finish all the shopping in one day and save bunches of money on stuff for them and yourself. It's almost a "thrill of the chase" sort of thing, for me. You track down the dvd you've wanted for awhile and it's the last one and it's only 3 dollars. That sort of thing :D

I've never done black Friday. Everyone says it's an experience, but my sis hates crowds and I can't stand that long with my back and it sounds rather torturous to me. Sounds like you hauled in the loot though! :D

hehe on the mood icon--I agree. LOL.

Glad you had a fabulous Thanksgiving :)

Just wanted to drop by and say that I love what you guys are doing with the rs_prophet. It has made me recall just how much I loved R/S when I came into fandom. *is nostalgic*

Most definately. Sadly - it was many years ago that I was reading a lot of R/S - I wouldn't even be able to remember much of the stuff. But I think you guys are awesome for revamping the prophet - I'm directing a newbie friend of mine over to it so she can get an introduction to R/S. :D
