Adventures in Dogsitting - an Update
I haven't dogsat in a bit so I thought I'd place an ad on Craigslist. The ad specifically said "no birds". Remember this part...
I've received a bunch of responses. Some? good. Most? bad.
1.) One person wanted me to housesit their chickens. For three months. For room. Not even room and board. I'd get to stay at their house for free, take care of the chickens and pay all the utilities. It was such a sweet deal that I just had to turn it down to let someone else take it.
2.) I have six dogs, three birds and one chinchilla, would you be willing to housesit for three days for 20 bucks? My standard response is that I charge $25 a night. They offered me $25 for the three days. This, too, was such a sweet deal that I turned it down.
3.) I have two dogs and I pay my 14 year old neighbor $30/week to watch them, would you be willing to do that? Oh, and I live 75 miles in the wrong direction. Again, such a sweet deal that I said no. And yes, this is after I told the person that I charge $25/night.
4.) I live in the Foothills (ritziest place in Tucson, basically) and have two dogs and two frogs. Could you stay for a week? How much would you charge? Me: hm, ok. Sounds good. Normally $175 but I'll go down to $150. Her: Dates changed, it's now 10 days for $175, right? Me: um, no. You live far out of my way from work and that's not even $20 a day. I'll do it for $200. Haven't heard back. Considering that she needs someone next week, IDK that she'll find anyone else. Thing is, I'd be using a tank of gas every three days so if it isn't at least $20/day, then I won't even make up the money it would cost me in gas let alone buying food to take over there.
Don't forget the Christmas Card Poll. Remember, I have non-religious cards that just show lights on cacti, if you really just want a card in the mail at the end of December. Please don't assume I have your address from last year. You don't have to worry about sending me one if you do not want to :D.
