Written in response to TheHexFiles' "October Challenge".
Title: A Bad Costume Decision
Rating: G
Pairing: H/D
Wordcount: 250 words exactly
Warnings: Fluff and cuteness abound.
Summary: It's Harry's turn to pick costumes for a party. Draco's not amused.
Challenge Details: October is here. The end of the year for some. This month's challenge is to tell a Halloween/Samhain tale in 250 words (exactly). Spooky, romantic, terrifying or fun, you decide. Use at least three items commonly associated with the holiday. As always, Harry and Draco must be the primary pairing.
A/N: My three items - costumes, party and magic. Inspired by a random comment in someone else's journal (cannot remember who said it and where they posted it) about envisioning the pair in the mentioned costumes. If you were the one to make the comment, please let me know and I will be more than happy to credit! As always, concrit welcomed with open arms.
“Explain to me, why, exactly, I’m dressed up in a dress.” The words were deceptively calm.
“Cause you’re Wendy.” The answer was cautiously spoken.
“Why do you get to wear pants?” The deceptive calm continued to permeate the air.
“Because I’m Peter Pan.” The too-innocent tone was reinforced by the falsely sunny smile on the lips.
“And just who are these characters, Harry?”
“They’re out of a children’s book, Draco.” Harry started backing up as Draco advanced.
“A Muggle children’s book?” Harry nodded as he surreptitiously felt for the doorknob behind his back.
“Let me lay all the details out then, shall I? One, you picked costumes out of a Muggle book. Two, you put me in a dress. Three, you put me in a dress. Explain to me why exactly I’m supposed to go along with this before I have to hurt you.”
“Because you make a better Wendy than I do?” At the roar of rage coming from Draco, Harry thought frantically for something to appease his lover. Obviously, his compliment hadn’t been taken as such. “Come on, the party will be fun! There’ll be candy and bobbing for apples and…ok, then, maybe Wendy could wear pants.” Harry pulled the knob and rushed out of the room, chased by Draco.
After Draco cast an Impedimenta on Harry, the blond gave a crow of victory. With a few spells, it was now Harry in the dress and Draco in the tights.
“These tights chafe, give me the dress back.”
