Random Meme!

It's been probably about a year since I did this meme so I thought I'd do it again.

The "Getting To Know The Flist Random Things Meme"

Under the cut - 10 Random Things about me. Feel free to comment with a random factoid about you!

1.) I prefer temperatures over 100 than under 70. My favorite optimum temperature for my house is 80-83 degrees to sleep and, even then, I sleep under two heavy winter blankets.

2.) Speaking of sleeping, I absolutely HATE sleeping under sheets. I feel tangled and awful. I loathe them. So I only ever use the bottom sheet.

3.) I was a nun initiate. A pair of leopard print mules kept me from completing my vows.

4.) I am an astronomy nerd. I worked on the Mars Pathfinder/Sojouner mission while in college. I cataloged photographs and basically geeked out in the Mars Garden at the Jet Propulsion Lab at University of Arizona. I also wrote educational planetarium shows while in college. My first job was in a planetarium at the age of 13.

5.) I appeared in the JCPenney's catalog as a model. All through high school, I modeled at local malls and fashion shows and stuff.

6.) I drink at least a two litre of Diet Coke a day.

7.) I have a major embarrassment squick. I cannot watch movies like There's Something About Mary because it's obvious, just from the preview, that someone's being laughed at. I can't do it. When people are embarrassing themselves, especially as a plot device, I get sick to my stomach and dizzy.

8.) When I was 19, I spent 4 hours in a catatonic state because a swarm of ants came up my arm from a sugar container. I am for really realz phobic about bugs. It took years of therapy to get to the point where I'm no longer going to pass out and, instead, want to kill the vast majority of them. However, large bugs still make me lightheaded and I have been known to pass out.

9.) Suddenly on a roll of things that make me dizzy/pass out - I cannot stand the sight of blood, especially my own or a loved one's. When my dog had knee surgery many years ago, I went to visit him and he had blood on his knee. I passed out and woke up on a metal dog exam table. When I cut my finger slightly while at a framing shop, I passed out, fell off a high stool and gave myself a mild concussion just because my blood was oozing out of my finger.

10.) I had a friend that, for years, I could not remember her name. I am just that bad with names. I constantly call people by the wrong name. I'm seriously rubbish at it.

What about you? What's an interesting factoid?

I totally share your hatred for sheets! I'm not sure if we're using the same terminology, but I put one on the mattress and not one under the blankets. Which I also prefer in heavy multiples. Even now, while it is 32 C at midnight or so (that's about 90 F for you?), there are two heavy, fluffy blankets on my bed. Unlike you, I despise the extreme heat (and don't have AC!), so while I may not actually be able to sleep under them (they invariably get shoved to the side while I'm sleeping!), I constantly pine for weather cool enough (but not cold - I also loathe that!) to sleep comfortably under both. I lead a difficult life, evidently. :P Especially given that I live in one of the most extreme geographic regions in the world, aka, largest hot to cold range around. Sigh.

Re. #10, there is a woman I know whose name is Rebecca and I just REALLY want it to be Karen. I'm always actually calling her Karen or really working hard not to! She just got the wrong name, I'm sorry!

Oh, also? I share your Diet Coke thing, except make it Diet Pepsi. SO MUCH OF IT! And I feel the same way about people having accidents related to urine in movies. It makes me feel sick, not amused!

I'm the exact opposite with temperatures. I loathe temperatures over 85' and cannot sleep unless I can see my breath. Figuratively, of course, but I sleep best when my bedroom is in the 50's. Randomness continued: If my bedroom is 72' or warmer at night, I will not be able to sleep. I'll toss and turn all night and feel like I'm having hot flashes. I'm not, of course, but I am fucking psycho apparently. *L*

I love factoid #4! I don't know much about astronomy, but I always wish I did. You might enjoy following
Neil DeGrasse Tyson on twitter. His twitter is AMAZING. So many wonderful random tweets. He's a fantastic man and a brilliant astrophysicist.

re #7: me, too. (Weirdly, I also have an embarrassment kink. Although, it's probably not that weird and it all connects somewhere in my brain, who knows?)

I fucking hate ants. HATE. I don't have a phobia, necessarily, but I shuddered hard when I read that line. EW. *soothes us both*

I absolutely HATE sleeping under sheets

3.) I was a nun initiate. A pair of leopard print mules kept me from completing my vows.

Um. I knew the first half of that, but not the 2nd. I'd love to hear the story!

I didn't know you were so phobic about bugs. Er, I hope you didn't look at my mothra photo. Next time, I'll warn you off, as well as annella.

You and I could not live in the same house. Too hot! My favorite outdoor temperature? Thirty degrees. For realz. I love cold weather.
