(no subject)

I dropped my car off at nine am. So noon goes past and... no call. At two, I called. Turns out that it took 2 guys 4 hours to get my hood to open. They ended up completely breaking my latch to get it to let the hood go. The latch was jammed which is why it wouldn't open. The cause of this headache and nightmare? A teeeeeennnnyyyyy rock. Like super teeny, smaller than my pinky nail.

That teeny rock cost me 310 dollars. But my hood works, I changed the fuse for my turn signals and got an oil change. Plus, they also put a screw in my gear shift so that it would stop popping off. It kept freaking me out when the gear shift wouldn't spin for me as I was driving. I got way used to the gear shift being a certain awkward angle. Now it's all where it's supposed to be and I couldn't understand why I couldn't get into reverse until I realized that I was pressing down on the gear shift and I didn't need to do that.

But - it definitely could've been worse. As it is, well, there goes, literally, the last of my money. However, I have also figured out that I'm not nearly as upside down on this loan as I'd emo'd about. I'm only about 3k (worst case) to 700 bucks (best case) so I think I can afford a new car in January.

Spent what little time I was actually at work watching Shelter on youtube before it gets taken down again.

For those of you following Memories as a Teacup - would you guys be interested in seeing the Dennis backstory and some of the stuff that will be happening offscreen? I've bits and pieces sketched out and I'm curious if you'd want to read it.

Still insomniac. Still no sleep. I'm dogtired, too. I just need like 8 hours all in a row. Maybe I need to lecture my body like I did my car?

Its odd, I had trouble with my hood the other day. I tried opening it to check my windshield fluid, and for some reason, it wouldn't pop. Now, it can't be that bad because I had them change my oil last Thursday, and they didn't say anything about the hood, so maybe it's just me. I dunno....its what you get with old (read:1993) model cars.

And yes, I definitely would like to read Dennis's perspective. He's underrepresented in fandom, and usually unfairly represented, at that.

I DLed Shelter at work, now I have to transfer to my USD drive and bring it home to watch :)

Look for a rock *winks*.

My car is a 2003. I've had nothing but problems with it. I would never ever ever buy a mitsubishi again. Nothing but problems, start to finish.

EEE! Awesome! I've about 3k on him and where he's been and stuffs. I'll have to polish it and post it!

Great! I know someone who posts to gryffindor_boys who will love seeing Dennis out there :D

I would love to see more of Dennis's story.

[identity profile] wook77.livejournal.com 2008-06-25 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Sweet! Will do! I've a bit to polish already as I needed to work through his backstory to get it right in my head.

*loves*

So, I got to drive around a Mustang convertible as my loaner car today while the dealers looked at my car. (I was considering stealing it and driving it to AZ for ya, but then I realized, that's a loooooong drive, and I would have to cross mountains...not a fan of driving in big mountains D:)
I am amused at the fact that I am getting a new windshield on my pretty gal already. The chemicals in the cleaning job done on the car before I got it left a crazy residue that won't come off...FUN

So, since I'm almost done with the POST OF DOOM THAT I AM WORKING ON THAT LJ KEEPS DESTROYING D:< D:< D:< I am holding off on watching Shelter for a moment more...and then, THEN shall there be great enjoyment.

[identity profile] elanorofcastile.livejournal.com 2008-06-25 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Also: HAVE NOW FINISHED POST OF DOOM :D :D :D

[identity profile] wook77.livejournal.com 2008-06-25 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
LULZ! I actually dislike Mustangs, believe it or not. I think the car runs too loud for the power you get. - ie - it makes a big show but compared to quite a few of the other cars on the market, it's got the roar of a lion but the pickup of a cat. Still fast but not all that great comparatively.

And BWEEEHEEE! YAYES for finishing that POST OF DOOM!!!!! *HAPPY DANCE*

and how'd you like Shelter?

[identity profile] elanorofcastile.livejournal.com 2008-06-25 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I definitely wouldn't want one for myself, but it was fun to tool around in, and be all "ooooh, look at me" around town for a bit, lol...

HOSHIT...SHELTER WAS AMAZING! I actually remember seeing a preview for it on another movie I watched...don't remember which one, though. But yeah...GAH...SO GOOD!!!!!!

That teeny rock cost me 310 dollars.

And that is why I hate taking my car to the shop - everything is so freakin' expensive!

I would really like to read more of Dennis' story in Memories. I haven't read many fics that deal with his loss after DH; not to mention, I've been really worried about him these last few chapters, and I'm curious what's been happening!

[identity profile] wook77.livejournal.com 2008-06-25 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
The interesting bit? They didn't charge me for the 4 hours of labor, really. They charged me for the parts and the installation only.

My car is frikken expensive :/. Never again with the Mitsubishis.

oooh! NICE! ok. I've a bit that I've written so I'll have to get to polishing and posting for it.

Ack.
We had the cable for the bonnet release go on our '76 Premier. Nothing as dramatic as a tiny rock. It just stretched to the point where it didn't work. It cost a heap for them to replace it.
*hugs*

I'd love to read about Dennis

[identity profile] wook77.livejournal.com 2008-06-25 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
I was afraid that it'd be the cable, tbh. The cable was 1500 bucks to replace. Thankfully, the hood latch was much less. The main bulk of the repair was the labour and that labour was all in the installation. Stupid Mitsubishi Eclipses have stupid parts and stupid layouts and *kicks it*

I'll have to post about Dennis :D. I'm so excited that people want to hear about him!

[identity profile] gfeather.livejournal.com 2008-06-25 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
I'm always up for more backstory! If I'm going to be gutted by a plotline, it's good to know more of what's going on.

[identity profile] wook77.livejournal.com 2008-06-25 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
YAYES! Dennis is gutting you? Really? *beams (but not in a mean way...more in a 'i'm doing a good job, then' way)*

[identity profile] shygryf.livejournal.com 2008-06-25 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
*hugs*

cars are ebbil sometimes

i of course would love to read more about dennis.

and we need to have lunch

*shakes fist at cars, mechanics' bills and tiny rocks*

I would lovelovelove more Dennis backstory. I feel like people aren't worried enough about him, after he pretty much disappears off the face of the earth in a very unhappy state!

I'm glad that the car situation is sorted and for less than you feared.

I'm sorry it was still so expensive :(.

Yes, I'd read (and love and treasure and enjoy) the bits about Dennis and the offscreen happenings. :D

Sleep now. Really.
