Oh wow. Thank you so much for such a wonderful comment. I'm so glad that you're out of lurking!
I'm a huge fan of non-chronological timelines, too, for the exact same reason! They're fun to put together and, well, my brain doesn't think in chronological order so, basically, what you see in the order that you see it, is how I wrote it.
The letters. Oh man. They were a last minute change. I had originally had a bunch of newspaper articles planned but I realized that that information was already incorporated in the fic so I thought I would flesh out the Deamus bits more, instead. I've left it up to the reader to think of whether they're part of the case or not. I have my own interpretations but I'd rather the reader make that decision for themselves.
Poor Dennis. I feel horrible for him because it makes no sense that Colin was even there let alone that he died. I can't reconcile it in my head so if I have a fic, I switch my favorite Colin/Parvati to Dennis/Parvati and play with that a bit. So when I wanted a serial killer, I knew it had to be Dennis.
Neville just about broke my heart. Poor guy losing Susan like that and playing along so that the rest of his friends don't get taken out by Dennis, too. They've all got a hard row in front of them to be able to work through all of this.
Poor Harry. He's always been one for snap judgments and that's been a bad thing so many times.
<3 Your comment really made my day so I thank you for letting me know what you thought!
