When people are being stupid/bigotted, I will often say, "My mother is black/gay/jewish/transgendered" or whatever the 'offending race/religion/subsection of people they're ranting about. She isn't, of course, but it stops people right in thier tracks. They get very shamefaced and apologize.
The added bonus is, they will never bother you again, because YOU CALLED THEM OUT.
