Err, long time, no post personal stuff, eh? Bet some of you haven't missed the kvetching about work at all *winks*.

Work continues. We hired a new person who seemed rather brilliant and, instead of that brilliance, have got the woman asking "is that the fax machine?" every time the fucking thing rings. She also can't remember who anyone is, gets extremely defensive and cunty about it when you remind her who the person is and, to put it mildly, is a fucking moron. She deleted all of September's work off the September tab, put in October's numbers and then asked how she goes about creating a tab for October. After she'd already put the information in and got rid of the September. Yes, the boggle deserves repeating. And then she got really defensive and bitchy and argumentative when I asked her to fix the information and put September back in place. The worst bit is that she hasn't picked up a single thing and still asks the same dumbass questions day in and day out when she has a fucking manual right in front of her!

My workload has only increased since she's been here over two weeks ago.

I'm now at 6 weeks of covering two positions. I'm strained and stressed and ready to snap something rather regrettable at the moron. It's to the point that my favorite coworker, who has the patience of a saint, wants her gone so bad that she's not even helping anymore. Hopefully, she's gone soon.

I've got buttloads of fic to repost into my own lj for archiving purposes. I also sent off the first couple of posts from my Star Trek Big Bang attempt to beta. [livejournal.com profile] elanorofcastile and I will be posting bits and pieces.

My birthday is coming up in less than two weeks. A few of you asked what I might want this year. I do not want any LJ gifts. It's still my little boycott from Strikethrough. Instead, I'd appreciate...mah birfday wishes )

I nominated the following fandoms for Yuletide:

Boondock Saints
Brent Weeks - Night Angel Series
The Departed
Four Brothers (movie)
Green Street Hooligans

Go forth and nominate your own and, if you have an extra space, add in that Brent Weeks book series, plz. It needs the loving. I had to do the first nomination for it. In fact, go out, buy the books and devour them and then write for the fandom, too, if I can get all greedy.

My nephews are coming to visit this weekend. We're going to go pick apples at an orchard near Willcox. My SIL thought that it would be great fun for all of us to then drive up to their house in Phoenix for me to spend the third birthday in a row getting ignored by my brother and his family while we celebrate Halloween a week early for the nephews. Um, no thanks. This year, I'd like to make my birthday about me, mkthx. I'm taking off for the Thursday before through the Tuesday following. I have nothing planned by writing fic, sleeping, painting a room in my house, writing and sleeping. Oh and did I mention sleeping? And the writing?

Title: Keeping Time
Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing: Snape/Teddy, Remus/Sirius
Rating: Hard R
Warnings: sexual!Snape, adult characters with crossgen of a major age gap (~40 years)
Wordcount: 5600 words
Summary: A watch, a kiss, a spell, a chance encounter, a hidden voice.
A/N: Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] elanorofcastile for putting up with my flailing as the first file disappeared on me and the beta and [livejournal.com profile] djin7 for her beta and AWESOME suggestions. Written for [livejournal.com profile] chibitoaster's birthday. Way back at Terminus, I promised her a Snape/Teddy story for her birthday and this is what came of it. I'm not at all certain this is what she was envisioning but... even though the story isn't all that happy, I wish you the happiest of happys, [livejournal.com profile] chibitoaster!!! May you have plenty of success, love and happiness in the future! To reiterate, both characters are of adult and legal age of consent within the United States. (Teddy is ~23 and Snape is ~60)

Happiest of Birthdays to [livejournal.com profile] maple_mahogany! I've a bit of something in the works but, err, it isn't done on time. Yanno - like everything I try to do.

The first 30 seconds of this video are the cutest seconds ever -

Also - finally watched the three videos I skipped and it seems that Ollie does know about all of the prison time and that's one of the reasons he was falling for Christian. Oh so w00bie. I totes thought that he'd only known about one of the prison times but he knows about both. But, I'm certain that in true soap opera style - Christian will get sent back to jail. Again. And then him and Ollie will have gay buttsecks in one of the rooms. :D

Wrote a bit today. Am also going to fight with iTunes and switch out my library over to my external harddrive. Wish me luck :/.

Title: Life and What Happens When

Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing: Dean/Parvati, Seamus/Lavender, Other
Wordcount:~2250
Rating: Minor R (More PG-13 but R to be safe)

Summary: A lesson in life and what happens when...
Author's Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] chaeldub for his birthday (I'm sorry that this is late). Inspired by Damien Rice's song Accidental Babies. There are a few lines of the song being used within. Many thanks to my betas, [livejournal.com profile] kethlenda and [livejournal.com profile] yodels. Any and all remaining mistakes are my own.

Life and What Happens When )

Today (well, today in Australia) is [livejournal.com profile] chaeldub's birthday. One of two things can happen. I will either be late with his gift!fic or... he can contact the government to have his date of birth moved. I'm even willing to write a letter verifying the very real need for this date change.

However, it seems much more likely that I will be late. Thus, instead of having gift!fic now, I shall extend the birthday celebration, yeah? Happy Birthday, Chael! I truly hope that it is absolutely smashing!

Now, in honour of his birthday as I have to do something for him on the day. Thus, a few recs of my favourites of his works. Please leave a comment if you enjoy them.

My absolute most favorite thing ever of [livejournal.com profile] chaeldub's is In Darkness Lies. Summary: Seamus learns that it is not the chances that we take but the choices we make that determine our destiny. It's Seamus/Dean and GAH. Sure, he wrote this for me but that's not the reason I love it. The reason I love it is that it is so creative and brilliant and heartbreakingly beautiful. I cannot possibly express how much win this story is made from. It's about 19k and worth the time to read it. Please to be having tissues handy.

The inspiration for this story was a comment I made in response to Eat of the Apple (Harry/Lucius) Summary: After the war, in a world without Voldemort, without friends, Harry lives his life like a ghost. In Lucius Malfoy's mind, even the brightest star has to fade sometime. Now the former Chosen One will meet the new Dark Lord. The words "Dystopian world" sort of freaked my shit out for a bit as the word seems to be used for pretentious twaddle that sucks. However, this story is just amazing in its darkness and the despair and everything. I love both of these so much.

They can be read independently or together. I prefer to read the entire thing. In fact, I go back to them quite often.

A Small Crime (Harry/Colin) An act of love - ends in death. An act of death - ends in marriage. An act of convenience - ends in a small crime. Written before DH, Colin's world is so very insular and dry that you wonder how it came to that when he was such a dynamic character in the books. It's a wonderful story that's slightly angsty, slightly fluffy and completely enjoyable.

Five Rings - Dean/Seamus featuring the most gorgeous artwork ever. Alcohol and lust are a dangerous combination... especially for six boys fresh from a war trying to find their way in the world. This is not only written for me (GAH YAYES) but it's also some fairly awesome storytelling. I love the different vignettes in it. Add in the artwork and it still makes me gush.

20 Things about Colin Creevey is also awesome. It's obviously twenty things about Colin. The one that sticks out the most for me is 3. The only magic his father every taught him was how to write his name in the snow. Which Colin thinks is brilliant.

Little House by the Sea Series is an ongoing series that you'll want to check out. It has a spot of confusion, some upset, some interesting ideas on how to bring [Person x] back and more. They're an enjoyable fun time even in the midst of confusion and upset.

So, there you have it, my top favorite stories by [livejournal.com profile] chaeldub. It doesn't make up for not finishing this darn fic in time but it's a bit closer, yeah?

Love you, Chael.

Best Birthday Ever.

Started off with waking early to go to work to get payroll submitted in time. No, that's not the best part.

Was supposed to go to lunch with my boss but when I came back from the ladies' room, almost all of my coworkers were scattered in the conference room next to my office where they promptly greeted me with white cake (WHITE CAKE!!!!!!!) and the happy birthday song and a card that they must have been passing around for a week to get everyone to sign.

Then, my FC (Favourite Coworker) came up to me later and handed me a small gift-wrapped box. Inside was an mp3 player. She didn't want me to be without tunes on the trip. Best Coworker Ever.

Yesterday, I went out to lunch with H (Cobra Girl) and she gave me the sexiest knee-high boots ever. Now I just need something to wear with them.

Tonight my mum and sister made apple dumplings. My mum makes the best apple dumplings ever.

Then I got fic and artses.

[livejournal.com profile] yodels wrote me Second Verse, Different from the First. It's a continuation of last year's birthday fic and well worth it. Deamus and just brilliant. It seriously brilliant, I love how [livejournal.com profile] yodels can do so much with so little... like, she can write 500 words and tell an entire story. I write 500 words and I described a pair of shoes. She's got so much talent there, just go read. The structure and the story and, of course, the pairing, are all made of win. Shower her with love :D.

[livejournal.com profile] chaeldub wrote Five Rings and then drew some Deamus art. And I'm sure you all saw my incoherent rec so yes, it's brilliant.

Thanks to all for the good wishes!!! [livejournal.com profile] wendy, [livejournal.com profile] hd_obsession, [livejournal.com profile] secretsolitaire, [livejournal.com profile] coffeejunkii and the rest (I'm sure I've missed some people and feel free to slap me for it). I truly appreciate them!!! You guys are the best!

Tomorrow, I start my journey East. Of course, it's warm all last weekend. I get there and it's frikken freezing. Just my luck. Now that I have tunes for the trip, though, I'm sure to get some of the rest of the writing done.

Speaking of luck, I'm hoping for the best of luck for everyone affected by the SoCal fires. I hope everyone makes it out safe or remains unaffected other than air quality (cause some of you are already being hit by that). Hopefully they get everything under control before it goes any further.

Love you all :D

I hate the tv show - The Black Donnellys.

Reason? That fucking show has me addicted in less than an hour. GODDAMMIT I HAVEN'T WATCHED TV IN YEARS, YEARS, I SAY!!!!!! And now? I've set the stupid frelling tivo to record it because I am, instantly, addicted. Fucking bastards. I was really proud of my track record and all of that and now? I'm watching tv again. I've even threatened my family with harm if they delete even one show without my permission.*shakes fist*

I'd like to ship Tommy/Jimmy but can't for some reasons that can't be discussed. So, Tommy/Kevin for now even if Kevin's googly eyes make me think of Cookie Monster and his swirling eyeballs of doom. [livejournal.com profile] tommykevin - oh the comms... I shall be having fun with this.

In other news, work is going really well. I'm having a fantastic time covering for my boss and they've hired a lovely woman who's already referred to me as her second in command *grins*.

We have a lady at work that is out because her newborn has a 50/50 chance of surviving and even then, the baby's facing mental retardation and permanent health issues. She's taking this time with no pay. What's amazing is that she doesn't have to worry about it because everyone that could, donated time to her so she doesn't ahve to worry about it. This is why I love my job and the people I work with (yes, even SLL). The outpouring of love and support is just amazing. I know that if something were to happen to me, they'd do the same. The reason? Because everytime that something catastrophic happens to someone, work pulls together and supports them. Just so much love for work right now, you all have no idea. I actually was in tears when I called the coworker that's out because she was in tears at the support too.

Then - the flist comes together to beta a fic that I'm very wibbly about and the response has been really great. This is tempered by no responses on a fic both [livejournal.com profile] notthequiettype and myself worked on but *meh*, we love it and that has to count for something.

It's posted at [livejournal.com profile] slashfest and is in three parts. Totally awesome BDS/SPN Crossover.

Out of the Way, Middle of Nowhere, Bumfuck, Arizona - Beginning Edition, MacManus Edition, Winchester Edition. It's brilliant and I'm really talking about Ash's parts there.

Finally - it's Ash's birthday soooooooo HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I have something for you, it'll be tomorrow or wednesday though. Hey, if I was on time for my own funeral, people would freak out.

My friend, H, had her 32nd birthday on Saturday. So, I went out last night for it and was probably one of three sober people there.

I met her friend, A, and the three of us hit it off with these three pretty hot hockey players (yes, they play my favorite sport in the entire world, I was instantly in love). A bit of background, H has a few stages of drunkenness.

first it's petting, then it's biting )
I had an open house today. It didn't go well. because my realtor is an idiot )

Basically, I've had the weekend from hell but that's ok as I've learned loads and even got some writing done.
wook77: (Hello!Wolvie)
More birthday squeeage and a picspam!

So someone anonymously bought me more paid time for this account and I would like to tackleglomp you if I knew who you are. I have my suspicions, of course.

Then - I got english muffins and really fancy jam/jellies in the mail from [livejournal.com profile] yodels. (BTW - have you checked out Going Underground, the fic she wrote for my birthday? If you haven't, GO READ IT!!!!!). THEN... I got more cards and postcards in the mail from [livejournal.com profile] yodels. Is she not the bestest friend evah?

And then... today is [livejournal.com profile] wendy's birthday!!!! Go check out [livejournal.com profile] we_love_wendy and leave her birthday wishes cause she is AWESOME!!!!

picspam of what I did to celebrate my birthday... not dial-up friendly )
